I have no interest in racing or anything UCI-related. But those rules are shaping bicycle design and stuff that is banned by the UCI will vanish from the market or be extremely expensive as it is totally niche. I would like to have some aero-attachements on my bike, but since they are banned, they are simply not available.

And let's be clear: At a certain level money can buy you victory. Show up with an expensive, state-of-the-art bike at your local race and you will have an advantage. You still need to produce the watts, but if the UCI really wants fairness, they need to standardize on a road bike for everyone with the same components and stats.

Jupp, das ist die "Kalkulation" mit der viele rechnen. Aber das ist meiner Meinung nach auch genau das Problem der Branche: Es ist eine Faustformel, die irgendwie funktioniert, aber die natürlich sau unscharf ist. Es ist natürlich logisch, dass in vielen Fällen der Wareneinkauf nicht der entscheidende Kostenfaktor ist, sondern z.B. die Miete. Logischerweise kostet dich der Sack Pommes oder der Eimer Metro-Currywurstsauce immer gleich, egal, wo du deine Frittenbude hast. Aber dein Vermieter will sicherlich mehr Pacht für den lukrativen Standort in der Fußgängerzone, im Stadion oder am Bahnhof als irgendwo an einem weniger lukrativen Standort. Löhne für Mitarbeiter sind in München höher als irgendwo im Harz. Auch Energiekosten können unterschiedlich reinknallen und hängen z.B. auch von der verkauften Menge ab. Lässt du z.B. deine Fritteuse den ganzen Tag laufen, verkaufst aber nur so 2 Pommes pro Stunde ist es eine andere Kalkulation als wenn da ständig eine Schlange an Leuten steht und du die Energiekosten auf 50 Pommes die Stunde umlegen kannst.

Es ist übrigens auch ein Mythos, dass es im Großhandel bedeutend günstiger wäre als im Aldi. Die Lebensmittelindustrie agiert mit eher geringeren Margen und so ein kleiner Schwimmbadkiosk ist jetzt kein wirklicher Großkunde. Lässt der sich dann die TK-Ware noch liefern, kann es wirklich sein, dass er mehr zahlt als du im Aldi

Das stimmt so nicht - im Endeffekt wurde im Osten nach 1990 das Eisenbahnnetz einmal komplett neu aufgebaut. Alle Strecken saniert, Schnellfahrstrecken gebaut, diverse Nebenbahnen gestrichen und die Strecken über die ehemalige Grenze wieder aktiviert. Mit den Reparationen in der Stalin-Zeit hat das aktuell gar nichts mehr zu tun.

Als Erinnerung: An LKWs sind tote Winkel seit Jahren EU-weit verboten, was jetzt die Franzosen trotzdem nicht davon abgehalten hat, einen "Achtung toter Winkel"-Aufkleber an LKWs vorzuschreiben. Und auch an PKW muss das technisch nicht sein, wir haben genügend Werkzeuge wie Rückfahrkameras, Spiegel, Sensoren etc. um eine Rundumsicht zu gewährleisten.

I know what you are saying, but it is not so bad: First of all, most things people are doing at work is not really related to the OS underneath. So if you are responsible for creating passports, you are using the special government program for passport creation. If you are a policeman, you are using the special police software to do your policework. Yeah, you need additional training, but in the best case your usual software keeps working. Most people are not really interacting with the OS during their work day.

(and let's be honest: Microsofts totally insane UI changes are also requiring lots of training. If you are used to just click on some specific buttons that somebody told you to click on, you're totally lost in Microsofts crazy wonderland of ridiculous UI changes )

Modern operating systems are different than Windows 98. Yeah, I'm using AI to create some simple python programs to do some work on my files. For example a popular music download site is giving you a "Artist - Album.zip" and Jellyfin likes it to be organized into Artist/Album and I created a simple python script that unzips everything into the correct structure. Or a simple script that searches multiple folders for the biggest files / duplicate files.

Yes, I know that I can do this with obscure bash and terminal black magic, but I'm familiar with python and it's a great way to handle stuff. This is something that AI can do and where AI is actually helpful. Of course I could program those scripts myself, but it really is faster.

Current vision models are also awesome, esp. in combination with other technology. There is no reason that the Windows Explorer can't find all pictures of your dog or every picture you took in London last September or every picture of a hamburger you took.

Features like that would also be awesome in a file explorer. But we are getting crap.
