  • Or, you know, if you read the prompt before sending, look at the question after you've selected it, or just read your own work once. This method will only work if students are being really stupid about cheating.

  • Permanently Deleted

  • Not to be one of those people, but the poster you sent is actually not Swedish. The first sentence is either Danish or Norwegian. You're still right about the word fart meaning something different in Swedish though.

  • Earbuds

  • Tbh my only gripe with this post is the assumption that because a man is explaining something to a group of women, it's automatically mansplaining. Although I guess it's a joke so whatever.

  • What if?

  • I can definitely see the point if it's literally all there is in the feed, but if you just watch things from people you disagree with from time to time, and the algorithm picks up on it, there's bound to be a few things in your feed that might "look bad" if they are used to draw conclusions about your worldview from someone who doesn't know you.

  • What if?

  • Next time I talk to a girl at a party, I'm gonna ask to see her browser history "because it's a good test for red flags." Judging someone by what they watch or read is stupid. Judging someone by what YT thinks they would like to watch is even worse. I know this is completely besides the point, and it is just a meme, but judgy behavior like that irks me.

  • No, they don't. It's bad that someone buys this to begin with, and yeah it sucks that they're taking up two parking spaces, but why direct your hate towards a person who actually seems to have a better attitude than 99% of people driving similar vehicles?

  • I think this is the nicest way to go about parking a vehicle like this. I might think it's a bigger vehicle than necessary, but this is not the person who should primarily receive hate for their choice of car.

  • It's a lot more interesting to have a goblin that somehow managed overcome its evil nature if basically all other goblins are genuinely crooked and evil, than if they're all "just another race" that's misunderstood. Yes, most villains should probably be more interesting and nuanced than just being evil due to their race, but evil races/monsters aren't a bad thing in a fantasy.

  • People have to be able to question the motive of content without being accused of "stirring the pot". Personally I really appreciated that the comment you replied to was posted, as it led you to reply to it, so that I could get more context and information.

  • True. I have a tendency to behave like this when it comes to work like this, and whenever I do it almost always leads to a bunch of unnecessary stress. It has genuinely made me better at solving problems on the fly, but I don't need that skill as much when I just plan a little better and actually stick to it.

Any good tailors in Taipei for minir reparations?

Looking for a tailor who can repair textiles. I have had the loop which holds the belt on a pair of my jeans come loose due to the thread breaking, as well as one of the buttons on a bag of mine break. Is there anywhere in Taipei I could get these repaired? I guess it shouldn't be too difficult for someone who knows what they're doing to fix this, but I have no clue where to go for something like this and I can't fix it myself. Any info is appreciated! :)

Going to Taipei for an exchange semester, how do I find good and affordable housing?

I'm going on an exchange to Taiwan this fall, and am going to study at NTU. There are very affordable dorm rooms on campus, which I have applied to, but there is no guarantee of getting a room. Therefore I am looking into alternative solutions if necessary.

Ideally I'd like a solo studio apartment somewhere near NTU (or quickly accessible using public transit), but I am also willing to share an apartment. My budget is realistically maximum 25000 NTD/month, but I may be able to stretch it to 30000/month if necessary.

I am aware of the Facebook groups and have joined a large number of them. I will definitely keep an eye out there.

I tried going on 591.com.tw, but since I don't yet read or speak any Mandarin I wasn't able to figure it out.

Do the members of this community have any general advice about renting or living in Taipei, or specific tips for places to look? I'm interested in any and all information about this! :)
