Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?
For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.
But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.

Aronofsky movies are hit and miss with me. They can be brilliant like Black Swan or melodramatic nonsense that mistakes dour abjection and misery with plot. I'd rather go with Trainspotting if I want the "drug addict's hell-ride" story. It comes up to breathe every so often with some levity and heart.

I'm the same but different. The only one I really like is Billy Madison because it leaned hard into its own absurd premise, went to absurd extremes, and arguably created the prototype of the plot that every other Sandler movie would follow.

When the plane flies through a mountain of snow, and just continues as normal, I had to shut it off. The shitty dialogue and dumb writing I could somewhat tolerate, but building up to a catastrophic turn of events, just to have the plane made out of fucking unoptanium, or adamantium or some shit is where I draw the line.
Everyone died on the plane, and the smouldering wreckage is now stuck in a pile of snow on top of a mountain. The end. Movie's over.

I hated him for this for a long time. He has since met with the victim, and the victim publicly said he forgave Wahlberg and wants him to have a second chance. To me, that's restorative justice and I don't think it's my job to push for further consequences.

I could never stand him in anything else, his late-night talk show run was a blight on humanity, and even the return appearance of his Who character in a second episode was entirely unnecessary.
I first saw him in Teachers and hated him immediately for reasons unknown. I think my future hatred transcended space and time and connected me at that moment.

Scar Jo. She's just not a good actor. Same with Gal Gadot. Also Jack Black and Seth Rogen and the Rock, they don't act - they're just themselves in every movie.
Aside from one or two movies like Tropic Thunder, I feel like Tom Cruise is largely the same way. His movies have largely become a playground for him to fill his Adrenalin lust with crazier and crazier stunts.

The most entertaining thing Gal Gadot has done was getting cast as Wonder Woman, which forced all the other characters from the fictional island of Themiscyra to speak in an accent like hers in order for her accent to make sense. Watching Robin Wright and everyone else playing Amazons trying to sound Israeli was worth the movie ticket price.
Seth Rogan is a dude I don’t really care much for, but if you get a chance to watch The Studio then do it. He is fantastic in that!

Jared Leto (I don't know why, I just really don't like him), but there are no roles of his that I like. In fact, he has ruined a few movies for me. I was actually really excited about Tron: Ares until the casting was revealed.
I generally hold the same negative opinion of Leto as you, but was surprised that his acting in House of Gucci was pretty decent.

He has a face that is simultaneously smug and dumbstruck. He ruined Altered Carbon, he was the weakest part of the Falcon & Einyer Soldier series, and he just screams “Overrated” to me.

This will be an unpopular opinion but I cannot stand Nic Cage. He's unwatchable to me. His mannerisms, his delivery, everything about him tweaks me the wrong way.
I don't know sometimes his acting is so bad it rounds the bend to being completely hilarious, such as in Face/Off.

I really enjoy Nic Cage as a schlubby loser. Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation, etc. He's ridiculous and distractingly bad as an action star or anyone "cool" like in Gone in 60 Seconds, The Rock, National Treasure.

Definitely recommend it, it's a major departure from his usual hijinx. It's a genuinely sweet and quirky movie.

Steve Martin's work may go deeper than you realize. Yeah he started out real slapstick and goofy but over the past couple decades he's slowed down and taken a more thoughtful approach I think

I agree with that list, but I like some of Steve Martin's serious stuff. If you've never seen it, give Leap of Faith a try if you see it streaming. He plays a traveling faith healer/con artist who runs up against a small town sheriff and a handicapped 15-year old and the kid's older sister. It's a really good movie in my opinion.
His modern remakes of Hamlet and Cyrano de Bergerac were well done.
Kira Sedgwick for decades, though I could never explain why — just something visceral in me. But her role as Wuntch (which ironically was supposed to make you hate her) on Brooklyn 99 was awesome, and I’ve enjoyed her work past and present ever since.
The pure hateful banter between Wuntch and Holt was priceless and she killed it.
Gal Gadot. Though it would be a stretch to call her an actress. Even the most untalented coat stand can act better than her.

I liked Farrell on SNL. Once he started doing movies, his likability, for me, drops off rapidly after about 5 minutes at a time. I still think he can be good in the right supporting roles, but he's too over-the-top for a leading man.

Everyone quotes Anchorman and I just did not enjoy that at all, or Elf, Step Brothers, or any of his “everyone loves” movies. Stranger Than Fiction, however, was amazing and I wish he would do more roles like that.
Tom Cruise is my other one. I find his acting very bland and unappealing. Mission Impossible has put me to sleep every time I try to watch it. I am not a big fan of Top Gun, Jerry Maguire, or any of them. My Cruise exceptions are Tropic Thunder which I wish he did more comedic roles like that and Minority Report, not a perfect movie but it was the very first DVD I ever owned so there is a bit of nostalgia tied to it.

He’s the epitome of “cringe comedy”, the comedy where the goal is to make actions and situations more and more outrageously uncomfortable as the story progresses. Can’t stand that style. I really don’t find him funny at all and avoid his films. Exception being Elf, and the only reason why is that the script doesn’t allow him much room to act the way he usually does. He has to expend effort.

The worst role of his is the Pontiac Bandit. I despise that character. He shows up once every season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine just to make Jake look like an incompetent ass hat, when most of the time the show portrays Jake as very competent but aloof.
Though this is also the best acted role of his that I’ve seen.
Then there is Darryl from the Office. I don’t hate him as a character there, but I think he’s mostly just mediocre.

Fairly recent Rom Com with Keanu Reeves. Angelina Jolie only good in Gigi. Girl interrupted, decent. Everthing else, awful. Julia Roberts terribad in Pretty Women, and nearly everything else. Erin Brockovich very good.
Matthew Broderick. Putting aside the vehicular manslaughter that he did, and considering only film performances, I've still never seen him in anything and thought he was good and that the film wouldn't probably be better if they had cast someone else. (In particular, I mourn the version of The Producers we could have had if they had managed to reunite Nathan Lane with Lee Evans.)
I'll grant that Broderick did an alright job of voicing Simba, though.
