Fascism is un-American
  • I think all of humanity, probably every country, has a “crappy past” but every effort to be better is worthwhile and should be latched on to and bolstered. The “myth” of a better America helped shape decisions for the better, was a guardrail, was a goal being worked towards. The story we tell about ourselves, whatever aspirations we have can become real if we try and keep trying.

  • Where do you want to live?
  • Hmm I don’t remember it being too bad, but I was very used to traveling at the time. Work-wise I was able to find well educated staff with a good enough knowledge of English to work ok so it was all good.

  • Where do you want to live?
  • I lived there for a while, it’s very cool, it feels like going back to the wild Wild West. Bonus points if you like to drink, deduct points if you’re a vegetarian (they mostly just have meat dishes).

  • Longtime GOP pollster: Trump voters are getting ‘buyers’ remorse’
  • I won’t comment on the value of polls or the wishful thinking, but I will say that she (Sarah Longwell, publisher of the Bulwark) is one of the most clear-eyed and insightful political commentators and actors out there, I think she’s always worth a listen. She also conducts lots of focus groups and listens to voters talk about topics, not just reading polls.

  • Every Country That Has Their Own Lemmy Instance
  • Chinese gotta use state-approved and controlled mainstream apps and media, or access foreign stuff via VPN. Homegrown, off the grid stuff like Lemmy only gets by as long as it’s obscure.

If it’s big enough and ornery (includes political content, rather than say just all cooking recipes and form) it’s liable to be blocked.

  • Great goal, you do bug bounties? You find some already? I’ve sponsored cybersecurity devs to do them before: I pay for their work upfront, we divide the reward and the credit, in a way.
