Honestly the way Americans, and most of all educated and\or elitarian Americans, behave in society, - it makes perfect sense that at some point it will be sold. Nothing like it really in the world, with the UK as the close second.
It's still funny, Alaska was sold to the US because the Russian empire's expectation was for the US to eventually control all of the North American continent. Not even control, but settle first of all. Like with Texas, it's not very convenient when the main settling power is different from the one having theoretical control.
So honestly a meeting in Alaska would make the best sense as a prelude to selling Kamchatka to the US or something like that. It's kinda sobering that the US today (contrary even to 50 years ago) is not a society that can settle anything new.
And if we think about it, in the middle of the XIX century it was expected that the African continent will be settled by Europeans similarly to the Americas.
South American states preserved, despite all the crime and poverty and dictatorships, some degree of cultural diversity and even humanism, but don't look as attractive for immigrants as then. Let's say they were half-settled.
USA was half of the world's GDP at some point. It's not anymore.
The whole Africa was in population less than Europe. Settling it was plausible. Not anymore.
There were fewer Iranians on the planet than European Jews. Not anymore.
So I would say that, sacrificing Native Americans, the humanity has formed an immunity against European empires. It doesn't yet look so, but the numbers don't lie. And building combat drones en masse is honestly nothing that the non-imperial part of the world can't do. Actually the involved defense-related corruption is probably less everywhere else relevant than in the NATO countries.

Well, there's the extreme end of things that moderators don't like posts about People love Luigi, though. But I understand not wanting to throw one's life away, even if success pushed the entire world onto a better trajectory.
There's also that low grade sabotage stuff that gets talked about. I think people were posting the ww2 sabotage manual a couple months ago. Stuff like have excessive meetings, make plausible mistakes to gum things up, that kind of stuff. This works better if you're closer to a source of the problems (eg: ICE, mega corps, republican think tanks, etc)
Then there's safer stuff like protests. There's the really safe ones where you just go and march. Those have use, but are kind of limited and won't fix things on their own. You can also do disruptive protests, but you have to be quick and smart, or you have a high risk of going to jail (or worse).
Radicalizing your friends also can be planting seeds. Maybe those will grow.
You could run for office, but that's slow and expensive.
There's probably other stuff, too, but I'm running out of steam here.

Trump is handling the peace negotiations in the most spectacularly embarrassing way. Giving the aggressors in a conflict concessions in exchange for a pinky swear that they won't do it again? Wow, what a concept. Historically bulletproof strategy that has never failed or backfired in any way.
I saw someone write once that Trump is so obsessed with making deals, and being known as a great dealmaker, to the point where the terms of the deal are often irrelevant to him. If the terms are favorable, he honors the deal. If he discovers later that the terms were not favorable to him, he reneges.
This kind of behavior works when you are a billionaire developing real estate because the people he screws over rarely have the funds to fight him in court, and have their workers' livelihoods to think about. Even if they do take him on, or they get a law team to work pro bono, he drags out the court proceedings and delays paying court judgements, or he opts to settle for much less than what was promised initially.
This doesn't work in geopolitics, but he doesn't know how to operate any other way. He wants to make a deal, and if he has to give away America's most valuable natural resources to close that deal, he'll do it. Doesn't matter if Putin has no intention of giving up the fight in Ukraine, Trump just wants to feel like he's some great peacemaker.
