So much for launching ‘later this year.’

X’s deepfake porn feature clearly violates app store guidelines. Why won’t Apple and Google pull it?
Cowards.
What a great band. Saw them live in 2024. Would recommend if they come to your area.
Larry Page is officially moving business out of California ahead of a proposed billionaire's tax
It’s really cool how he made all this money in a state that had favorable conditions for his tech business and then wants to run away without paying his share for infrastructure. Asshole.
Yes, that’s exactly why we had to stop. She pounced when we weren’t playing and scratched my eye. Luckily, no permanent damage. (I was lying down when she got me.)
Well, I put in a bunch of personal info and then it rejected two 2FA codes that it sent to my phone so I couldn't submit at the end. Sigh.
"What else can we do that's hostile to our customers?"
The next move will be bringing back Clippy and then a full-screen ad that you have to dismiss every ten seconds.
Exactly. I've been doing it for so long (because otherwise my cats would splash the water) that I find it gross when people leave them open to flush.
Something else that just occurred to me… It's only a matter of time before we kidnap Zelensky to end Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
Is he still the non-interventionist candidate? /s
Every man who posts the meme should have to use this.
Hang on everybody… I have to think about this. I think maybe I wanna do what he says. I mean, he's gotta be a genius cause he's a ceo, so how could his advice (demands) be wrong?
He's right. AI bullshit is fucking magic.
So much for launching ‘later this year.’

What a shame. I was super excited to send money to this grifter and show off how much of a patriot I am. And it's fake gold, which everyone knows is super classy.
Trump initially said he was "very angry" over the reported incident, but later adopted a more skeptical tone.
The stupidest man is in charge. Don't worry.
Put this piece of shit in jail.
Absolute bullshit.
If you think Chic-Fil-A is woke (not saying you, just people in general), you probably should become a fan of Marjorie Taylor-Greene. She's also suddenly become a huge supporter of Leftist politics and isn't a piece of shit racist. /s
I literally have to apologize for being white every singe day. At work? Apology. At the store? Apology. With my spouse? Apology.
It's like a white man in America can't get a fair shake in America as a white man! /s
Btw, some people are really stupid.
Won't someone please think of all the corrupt bureaucrats who bought him off?!
Don't badmouth Autistic people. They're way more adept at emailing than a stupid LLM.
Excuse me, but everyone who thought Machine Learning isn't about to rearrange all of humanity simply didn't get the memo. /s
That's because stupid people think LLMs are "thinking" machines. Let the man-child with too much money sink more on this stupid shit until he's poor.
Two retired LAPD homicide detectives say that both notorious cases are solved -- with a single culprit -- thanks to the work of a novice sleuth.
In what is likely her final interview, Goodall pulls no punches.

Such a badass.
“Absolutely there are people I don’t like, and I would like to put them on one of Musk’s spaceships and send them all off to the planet he’s sure he’s going to discover … He’d be the host … Along with Musk would be Trump … And then I would put Putin in there. And I would put President Xi. I’d certainly put Netanyahu in there, and his far-right government. Put them all on that spaceship and send them off.”

The person running the site had some had some health issues and hasn't posted an update in 2.5 years. However, there's a mountain of awesome command line tools to discover if you go through the backlogs. The daily updates on this site used to be one of the most delightful parts of my day for a long time and a lot of tools that I use and love today were found here.
Enjoy!
Oppo was allegedly aware of the staffer’s efforts to glean information.

I wanted to post this yesterday, but my instance was having issues the entire day. Apologies if this is a repost.
Shi allegedly sent a message to Oppo saying that he was working to “collect as much information as possible” before starting his job. And he searched the internet for terms like “how to wipe out macbook” and “Can somebody see if I’ve opened a file on a shared drive?” from his Apple-issued MacBook before leaving the company.
For someone who is presumably pretty intelligent, this is pretty dumb.
The provisionally named S/2025 U1 is so small it had gone unnoticed by probes and telescopes for the past 40 years.

It's amazing to me that we can still find new heavenly bodies within our own solar system in 2025. Not to mention the possibility that we have data that suggests there might be yet another beyond Pluto, but that's still speculative.
Science: one of the only topics that doesn't suck in 2025.

I can’t imagine how this could go poorly. /s
Long before modern supply chains, ancient hominins were moving stone across long distances, potentially reshaping what we know about our evolutionary roots.

“What's really interesting about humans and their ancestors is we're a technologically dependent species,” Finestone said. “We rely on tools. We're obligate tool users. We don't do it opportunistically or occasionally the way that a lot of other animals use tools. It's really become ingrained in our way of life, in our survival, and our foraging strategies across all people and all cultures.”
The study of early hominins (our cousins) and the many branches in the path of our evolution is easily my favorite area of science. This topic is evergreen, with new discoveries every year that frequently upend our understanding of the landscape. Dinos and the like are fave number two.

The texts were sent to a group called “Mass Text” and show ICE using DMV and license plate reader data in an attempt to find their target, copies of the messages obtained by 404 Media show.

The person accidentally added to the group chat, which appears to contain six people, said they had no idea why they had received these messages, and shared screenshots of the chat with 404 Media. 404 Media granted the person anonymity to protect them from retaliation.
One of six will not be hard to find… I mean, what?
Meta has appointed right-wing, anti-LGBTQ+, anti-DEI conspiracy theorist Robby Starbuck to advise them on preventing political bias in AI.

What could possibly go wrong?!
Also, it’s really cool how everything is going straight to hell. /s
Officials are pleading with people to help reduce demand.

Sorta like how corporations pushed recycling onto the public to deflect from their own culpability for pollution. Why would we regulate the companies building huge data centers when we can get average people to absorb the cost? It's not like they're making obscene profits while laying off untold thousands.
I mean, if that was the case, sure, let's have them pay to clean up the waste they generate. But have you seen NVIDIA, Microsoft, or Meta lately? These companies are barely staying in business. Their CEOs can hardly afford to ride the bus to work. Let's cut them a break.
TLDR: It's your fault the earth is dying because you horde emails.
First, the Trump administration gutted the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, probably because it was too concerned about protecting constitutional rights. Whoever still remained was “allowed…

Happy to link to some good news. I know my state is fighting tooth and nail against the fed doj.

We can’t let our farmers not have anybody. You know, these are very these people, they’re you can’t replace them very easily. You know, people that live in the inner city are not doing that work. They’re just not doing that work. And they’ve tried, we’ve tried. Everybody tried. They don’t do it. These people do it naturally, naturally. I said, what happens if they get it to a farmer the other day, what happens if they get a bad back? He said, they don’t get a bad back, sir, because if they get a bad back, they die. I said that’s interesting, isn’t it? You know, these are very—

PRESIDENT TRUMP: In many ways. They’re very, very special people. Okay, go ahead.
Seems like it’s a quote from a southern politician pre-civil war talking about Black people. But nope. This was said today about people from south of the border. Incredible.
Ryan Walters may be off the hook for what people saw on his TV, but his smear campaign against colleagues remains unforgivable

This christian-nationalist asshole really proves the merit of his character. This is a blog post from the Friendly Atheist. Ryan Walter’s can suck it.
Trump’s chip tariffs won’t hit Apple despite no plans for a US-made iPhone.

I’m sick of powerful people / companies kissing his ass, but I can’t deny that this is a smart move for getting out from under his disgusting gaze.

Tesla must pay the plaintiffs $200 million in punitive damages, the jury said.

A representative for Tesla sent Ars the following statement: "Today's verdict is wrong and only works to set back automotive safety and jeopardize Tesla's and the entire industry's efforts to develop and implement life-saving technology. We plan to appeal given the substantial errors of law and irregularities at trial. Even though this jury found that the driver was overwhelmingly responsible for this tragic accident in 2019, the evidence has always shown that this driver was solely at fault because he was speeding, with his foot on the accelerator—which overrode Autopilot—as he rummaged for his dropped phone without his eyes on the road. To be clear, no car in 2019, and none today, would have prevented this crash. This was never about Autopilot; it was a fiction concocted by plaintiffs’ lawyers blaming the car when the driver—from day one—admitted and accepted responsibility."
So, you admit that the company’s marketing has continued to lie for the past six years?
