Unless you're from New England, the idea of canned bread probably sounds really, really odd. Who exactly had the bright idea of putting bread in a can, anyway?
Link Actions
Canned bread is made by pouring a cornmeal and molasses "batter" into a can, where it is "steamed until it rises." Unlike bread that is baked and then bagged, which can leave it vulnerable to mold growth, the steaming and canning process helps to ensure that your can of brown bread lasts.
My instance is lemmy.one
I've tried to upload images in posts, comments & on ios apps (voyager is my usual go-to) web apps & the normal webpage. It simply wont upload. i have to imgur for literally everything.
But damn, got some white rice, beef, and some veggies (cucumber and radish) all with that signature sauce that Vietnamese restaurants usually have (I'm not sure what it's called).
And by the Vietnamese gods, it was amazing.
Just like eating it at the restaurant itself; still nice and warm (but then again, the restaurant was nearby my area).
Came in a white plastic container or whatever material you call it.
Oh God, I look back fondly on that meal I had almost an hour ago today.
I was soooooooooooo hungry too and now I'm not.
How is it that you can feel horrible when you're hungry (physically and emotionally) and then feel content and all is right with the world after having eaten?
Dunno... Just don't know...
Anyway, how you all doing? And what did you all eat today (so far)?
I tried to sign up for this instance, but my signup is still stuck in "processing". I tried signing up with a different username & email, and I got a popup that said sign ups are closed. I emailed Jonah at two different email addresses that I found for him, sent him a message through Lemmy and a message through Matrix to ask if I could get my original sign up approved. I got no response to anything.
I noticed that the instance was updated to 0.19.0, but not 0.19.1 that came soon after and fixed some problems with the .19 release.
I haven't seen any posts/updates from Jonah since the update, and it seems like he has abandoned the instance. I really wanted to move here, but it doesn't seem like it's being maintained, and that's disappointing.
lemmy.one was a great start for me into the fediverse, but the time has come to move on. It's become apparent to me that the (singular) admin just isn't there, and this instance has been dead for almost a week now due to the outgoing federation bug that needs a second upgrade to repair.
I know Jonah has a lot on his plate, and it's the holidays after all so I don't blame him... but this has happened a few times now. unless he's going to bring new people on to share the technical admin load and get us more prompt attention, I'm jumping to dbzer0 which has significantly more active technical administration and more communities that I'm interested in.
This would be a list of vetted fundraisers where the money goes directly to people who lost homes in Maui this week. Is that okay for this place or do we want to avoid fundraising type stuff here? Looking for honest thoughts from the crew. If anyone knows a more appropriate place that would also be appreciated.
Don't have much technical background so was looking to pick up whatever options were on Amazon, and not keeping it indoors since aware that the company I choose could decide to spy on me. But, I don't really care for outside the house.
Question is if having these type of devices running on the same wifi network I'm using is safe for my other devices? And does running that device on the guest wifi help?
Every day I feel like the world will colapse. No freedom of expression.
Companies want to control each aspect of our lives. This hit me really hard:

I want to believe that people will wake up and stand up against this, but it won't happen because of cource fomo will hit and addiction keeps people on board.
I don't want to rely on discord, meta, microsoft and google...
Nobody from the mainstream cares about freedom as long as they get their fix.
Not to mention how the environment suffers from this...
Every time I walk outside I try to remember to bring a plastic bag with me so I can pick up whatever piece of trash I see on the ground. It's a bit of a double-edged sword really, while it's nice to take care of the earth around you it's also quite sad to see just how much trash is around you at all times. Thankfully it ends up being nice in the end because I now see less and less litter around on my usual routes. Keeping in mind that some is enough (I don't need to pick up every little piece esp if I'm on my way to someplace like work) and that what's small to you means the world to the plants, insects, and whatever animal that may be in that area does help with this hobby as well
I'm hoping to do more volunteer work and bigger actions for helping the local area at some point in the near future but for now this is a good habit to have
You know the types of sites that I'm talking about. You start reading for a bit and it just starts repeating itself.
Everytime it feels like I just wasted my time and I need to search for another, hopefully not ai generated, article.
So is there a way to block them all ? Like an adblocker but for AI generated news sites ?
An online support group for people to share experiences and resources, and give support to one another through the many challenges of having a friend/family member struggling with addiction.
Hey y'all. I'm new to these parts and am really settling into Lemmy. I am looking for YouTube channels I can have playing in the background while I work from home. I benefit from body doubling so watching someone else work keeps me focused while I work alone. I'm looking for content creators that record their builds in a workshop without much dialogue. Fly on the wall type stuff.
From what I can gather, a bot creates communities based on subreddits recommended to them by users, then fills said communities with posts from Reddit. I don't really get the point of this, as 90% of posts it seems are just copied from Reddit but without any of the actual engagement, as the OP didn't post it and no one is commenting. It just seems like clutter and a waste of space, but it's also all over my feed. Anyone else confused?
It seems youtube is breaking into the middle of long-form video much more often. And most of the ads are for snake oil - Fear mongering "Tinnitus will KILL your brain in three years" baloney.
Is there a Fediverse equivalent to YouTube? Can the Fediverse be applied to this? Will it solve the above complaint?
I have been to Odysee but with very few exceptions none of the content I want is there (They have Veritasium, and minute Physics, but not Vsause, Technology Connections, or Stand Up Maths)
