I fear for the safety of my partner (a refugee) such that I insisted we cancel plans to travel to Alaska to see aurora borealis. We are avoiding airports and doing a roadtrip.

The thing is, we aren't dying or getting maimed on a regular basis. We should fight harder, but the average person doesn't have anywhere near the same interest in improving working conditions as people in the start of the twentieth century.

I say this as someone who suggested unionizing at my previous company and there was zero interest. The place where I currently work is unionized, thank goodness.

Be careful about the nasal sprays. I used to use Afrin. When it wears off, it causes the sinuses to swell, leading to a literal addiction to stay clear. I relied on that crap for years. Claritin D (from the pharmacy) works for me now.

I like the sentiment but I'm always annoyed when people bring their performance to a captive audience. I'm trying to listen to a podcast or read and listen to music. I'm more forgiving in a park, where I can choose to walk away. But even then, if you're just one guy playing an acoustic guitar and singing (badly), knock that shit off. Nobody is impressed. Practice at home. At least these people are doing something unique, which I respect.

I was friends with a person like this. They're pretty awesome if you're ready to meet them on their goofy weird level. They also loved Irish folk tunes really loud.

I hadn't remembered this in years, but I always imagined myself out there like the Flash and how my older brothers were in the car watching me burn it up and being super impressed. I literally might not have remembered that during my entire adult life. Thanks for reminding me. Although I was more like seven at the time.
