  • that time she released that album under the name 'tool' and it topped her own in the charts surely must've been a career highlight :D

  • please don't encourage them, someones got to review that shit!

  • TIL

guess i just never botheres to try cos config change & rebuild wasn't much more of a hassle :shrugs:

  • just for clarity: you can modify stuff like hosts or cron jobs but it'd get overwritten iirc? you can also make the change in the config and have it persist (reproducibility being the main point, not disallowing you to edit your files)

  • well if it makes you feel better you just made me man history xD

  • i just cat grep .bash_history lol

but this does sound more convenient xD

  • the one thing that most federated platforms have over centralised structures is the possibility to migrate out of your current shitty fiefdom and the fact that the actual code is open source, so a community can make the choices about the possibilities the technology provides (which is mostly usually better than whatever a for profit company is "forced" into), whereas a centralised platform like bluesky can just ruin the codebase and keep it's users hostage... which after all is one of the key factors to enshitification

edit: i do agree on your other points though, social networks are bound to turn into bubbles and we've already seen defederation based on petty squabbles :shrugs:

  • i was going to mention some books too but then i saw the pink floyd answer and realised that would be far more likely to not end up sitting on a shelf :(

  • yeh plus old should be specified probably... i got an x230 for this reason, changed 2 screens and both hdmi outs are dead (second one being on the dock)

very sad about that, it even has an easy access hdd drawer :(

  • but thank fuck specifically he has cos now it's a brilliant piece of software xD

  • also iirc gitlab does offer something like this as a feature now with "merge trains" (though i've never really used it, usualy just go for the feature branch out of habit x) )
