Seer of the tapes! Knower of the episodes!

  • You can lay at least some of the blame on Mitch McConnell's doorstep.

  • The Aug. 11 searches of the Marion County Record’s office and the homes of its publisher and a City Council member have been sharply criticized, putting Marion at the center of a debate over the press protections offered by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

I'm not aware of any "debate". Everyone seems to be on the same page that this was an egregious abuse of power and a clear violation of Constitutional rights.

  • Obviously, that being on the receiving end of a someone's mental health crisis is often frightening and upsetting.

Your interpretation, that they meant that "it's OK to shoot the mentally ill", is absolutely ridiculous.

  • He did try to back away. And punching someone significantly larger than oneself is generally unwise.

  • You know you did.

  • What would you have done in that situation?

  • You're putting words in their mouth.

  • Well, if I hadn't already ditched it I would do so now.

  • So, what does it mean to be a shithole?

  • Then all countries are shitholes and the term is rendered meaningless.

  • "Shithole"?

Strongly disagree. Whatever problems the USA has, there are far more places that are far worse, and very few that are better.

  • Article four section two states that judges are not allowed to overrule interstate law.

    I don't see that.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on Demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.

  • That would be a federal crime.

  • I disagree and here's why.

The 10th amendment does not constrain the state governments, and this is not an ex post facto law.

States are not required to enforce the laws of other states, and generally do not have any legal standing to challenge other states' laws.

It is generally not legal for a state to prosecute someone for actions that took place outside of their jurisdiction.

  • That covers people who commit a crime in state A and then flee to state B. It's not clear whether it's even possible for a citizen of state B to commit a crime in state A without entering state A.

  • Whatever else, I'm sure we can all agree that the current performative, pro-forma electoral college meetings are not what was intended by the framers.
