  • One murder has put it all in to stark relief for many where the loyalties of law enforcement lie; and yet i cant help but think no one will remember who was on the side of the working class come election season

  • I consider myself an introvert, and I had to work hard to build that social muscle. Once its built though, you dont have to work as hard to maintain it, and people become less draining. Is it fair that extroverts dont have to work as hard to do this? No. But you have advantages they dont. It sounds like you need to either find a career where you dont need to work in a team (unlikely) or develop your social skills.

  • lol there's no way the poster actually fired anyone. If there's one thing I've learned its that most business don't like to fire people, its too expensive. They just talk a big game, do write-ups and generally try to use passive-aggression to present an air of "you're on thin ice!" Odds are, if your employer needs you THAT badly to work your shifts, they're not gonna want to train an all new person to replace you.

  • Its called cheating. Download some mods or something; the game is the game they made. If you want something different, there are plenty of options.

Edit: A question for those downvoting comments; where are the indie souls-likes with an easy mode? The market for a such a thing doesnt really exist as far as I can tell. On the other hand, if those games do exist and im just not aware of them, then for fucks sake just go play them and be happy. Im not out here saying Stardew Valley needs a permadeath mode, that would be childish.

  • You're right in one sense; the community is small and can have an echo chamber effect like any "small village." But you can also try other instances, or other Fediverse things or start your own. It goes like this; Reddit had success because they served you interesting things on a silver platter, using extensive venture capital to make it as slick and addictive and popular as possible. Lemmy is not built on capital, at least not on the same scale as Reddit; it is built on labor. You gotta decide what your ideal is.

Does AI-generated art posted on lemmy bother you?

I find that i can spot AI Images fairly easily these days, especially the sort of fantastical tableaus that get posted to the various AI communities around lemmy. I'm tired of seeing them; it all looks the same to me. Was wondering if im being too sensitive, or if other people are similarly bored of the constant unimaginative AI spam...

For the record, I block any explicit AI Art communities that pop up in the feed, but there are more every day...

    Got laid off today.

Whole Maryland office is being "consolidated" with Austin. They offered to move us to Austin if we want. How fucking generous.

Assholes at the top are the reason they're losing money, production as far as I can tell was quite lean and putting out lots of product. They're just gonna lop an arm off and hope it works out, and fuck the rest of us now out of a job cause they can't balance overhead.
