Devils Panties 02/28/2025
  • I think doing a "Whiteout" would be better, where people only shop at pro-humanity or mom n' pop stores. Costco, Winco, ect. People must spend money for their necessities and to enjoy life, but if that spending can always be directed into the pockets of decent people rather than Bezos, that would be far more impactful than a day of blackout.

In that vein, I think incentive programs to switch people would be ideal. Something like CostCo giving a free membership if you buy an amount of goods equal in value, and a free pizza/rotisserie/hot dog(s) for buying $15 of stuff.

  • I think the issue in America, is that the Constitution only addressed political power, but failed to account for fiscal strength. Money is inherently a thing that manipulates the fates of individuals, companies, and nations alike. By not setting down rules, limitations, and expectations regarding economics, the Founding Fathers allowed a key form of power go unaddressed.

The vast majority of Project 2025's major backers are wealthy people, who have far beyond what any normal person can ever hope to possess. This imbalance means that workers have to sacrifice much time, money, and energy to be barely heard on a single issue, while a rich person can just hire experts to massage every aspect of their many messages and to deliver it everywhere with a mighty voice.

IMO, we will need a Constitution v2.0 that fixes not only assorted political flaws like the voting system, but also prevents wealth from being a microphone that only a few can afford.

  • I ply in games that aren't sold on Steam, that require Japanese locale, do mods, and so forth. Edges cases even on Windows can be a problem. My efforts with trying to get into Mint, made it clear that issues would pop up.

Linux is an good idea, but not yet suitable for intermediate users.

  • A neat person like Bernie doesn't have to be a politician to do good works. He can help mentor grass root organizations. While it would be a shame to lose a good guy from direct politics, it is far easier for evil politicians to stick around if we don't force them out. A good guy is apt to step down from power when they think it is right, but an evil one? They won't leave until carried out in a coffin.

  • I would like Gabe to with the EU to make a EULinux. They both have respective reasons to get away from Microsoft's control over software, and I would very much like to daily drive a Linux without worrying about game compatibility. Unfortunately, I am stuck with Windows because I play many obscure or old games, and simply hate dealing with technical hassles enough as it is. Here's hoping that Linux becomes good enough within a couple years from now.

  • Part of the thing about being young, is having drive to do stuff. Be it good or ill. The Geronocrats have no drive, so they can't fight the pull of the Right Wing.

The problem isn't with youthful Democrats, it is with the fact that the elders kept them out.

  • Undoubtedly. However, a Bernie who retired due to age or term limits, would still be able to mentor upcoming politicians. Handing the helm to a competent person and training their successors would be a much wiser strategy than what we currently got.

Why the hell should we keep creatures like Pelosi, who exist exclusively to suckle from the fetid teat of the stock market?

  • Term and age limits will be needed if the Constitution is improved, alongside ditching first-past-the-post voting. A great deal of America's rot comes from the stagnation caused by career politicians who simply exist to occupy a seat.

Sure, we might lose 'wise' leaders, but it has become pretty damn clear that archaic politicians are the plugged toilets of Democracy. All they do is cause a mess if not promptly handled. The Geronocrats must go.

  • Do you see what's going on yet?
  • I wouldn't mind that being part of the solution. Far as I can tell, people who are too wealthy go insane. A very blunt method like yours has merit, especially if it were terminal.

That said, what I put forward is more about preventing the existence of bad bosses, political corruption, and so forth. We shouldn't just eliminate the wealthy, but also eradicate poverty and give people the means to live a full life. That would be key to preventing the shit that brought American society to this point. Americans cannot afford the time and education needed to have political agency, with unfettered Capitalism being the culprit.

  • An idea that I didn't cover here, is the concept of an asset/wealth cap for corporations themselves. It could be based on how many employees they have, worth half of a rank's income. So a clerk adds $20,000 to a company's asset cap, while an head researcher grants $50k. I figure something like this would help a company's usefulness to society dictate how much money it can have stockpiled. We don't want any given organization to get too powerful.

Additionally, I am thinking corporations who don't need employees, but an increased cap, can sponsor income brackets. These can be given out in a lotto for workers that are being replaced by AI. This would allow society to transition into AI workflows, without disruption that can ruin people's lives.
