Substitute baseless with warranted and this makes total sense.
It's funny because for a decade GOP politicians have been trained to say "I'm doing this for Trump". Even if you're 100% aligned with what Trump wants, he gets mad if you're not saying his name. Now it has come back to bite them because they're now obviously all trying to bury the Epstein stuff for him, but they have to break a long habit and not mention him for once.
