  • Good gig last night. Speaker rig was one of the more impressive ones I've heard for DnB, pretty much custom built for the genre. Pretty rare to hear it that loud with clarity which was nice.

Shitload of security though. Probably a legal requirement, but there were security dudes standing on boxes in each corner just watching the d-floor. Not really the sort of music that attracts trouble but I guess it'd make a few people feel safer.

Got home at about 1:30am to hambam sitting at the front door waiting for me with sad eyes :( Felt bad so cooked him up some mince to make it up to him.

Edit: and he's been staring at me all morning:

    • Such a glorious beast! I think DnB has a bad reputation. Or maybe they were expecting something else? IDK.

  • Hello! Been a little while since I posted, I was o/s for a couple of weeks. Got back yesterday and slowly adjusting to normal life again.

Woke up before sunrise as I was asleep by 9pm last night, completely totalled from the flight home (got the row behind the loud & crying toddler, lucky me). Still not feeling 100% though, there's a big sleep debt to catch up on. Have been tackling some life / business admin and washing this morning. Then will go for a walk to bask in the winter sunshine and need to fill my very empty fridge with food.

  • Alright! Downstairs are fine to start paying for my car parks they're using (I have two car parks, and have been letting my downstairs neighbour use them for free for ~2 years).

But if/when I get a job, I'll lower or cancel the payment altogether.

But at least if things take a little time, my rent increase will be covered lol

    • I'm glad that worked. Every little bit of breathing room is good

      • It's a bit of a relief tbh! They were very thankful for the time they got it for free, which I think helped breaking the news lol, and payment won't start until August, so there's time. 😅

I'm thankful the rent increase isn't awful! I'm quite lucky to have a REA that is real nice and chill - nicest RE I've ever dealt with!

  • My useless talent is being able to listen to a song, in pretty much any language, and be able to sing along to the chorus after a few listens. It always shocks my partner, which pleases me.

    What's your useless talent? Discuss.

Bonus question: what's your favourite non-English language song?

    • I’m pretty much ambidextrous. It’s sounds more useful that it actually is, although I can write with my non-dominant hand if the other hand is occupied

    • I'm pretty good at guesstamating measurements. I'll measure whatever it is I'm guessing up against the real thing and I'm usually spot on.

    • estimating the time of day

I can usually tell within a few minutes

also estimating how long things take to do

    • I'm good at knots. It has very little real-world application. But if you need to lash sticks together to make dodgy camping furniture, or to make a long rope shorter without cutting it, hit me up.

      Neunundneunzig Luftballoons is a banger.

      • I love knots also! The best thing about them isn’t learning how to do them, but figuring out what the right knot for the occasion is.

    • In my weeaboo days I used to love listening to Japanese language music. Somehow a hook / chorus in pop music transcends understanding the language. It actually helped me learn some Japanese.

    • I can wiggle my little toes without moving the others. Taught myself after reading Dune as a teen and misunderstanding a line.

Engel or Coisich A Ruin or Agolo. ... all too different to pick one

  • Head turned to the sky at the witching hour
\ Counting the stars as they fall like flowers
\ There's power in their sparkling forms
\ That fade away at the break of dawn

  • Had outing to Bunnings and Officeworks today 💸 Both Minipeelers like drawing, especially Miniest, and it was time for some new textas and sketchpads and stuff. Needed some plumbing supplies and I bought myself a hanging fern for the bathroom. I really love it, it adds so much life to the room and looks really cool. Somehow I managed to fit in a book, The Community by Christine Gregory. More crime lol, this time set in a small Australian country town. I was lucky in that this one was a real page turner, and the characters were diverse and interesting and kind of familiar.

  • Just had a nice little gaming session with my friend who currently is sick with COVID.

Been awhile since we’ve played a game together and we just talked on the long e while doing it.

Tough to find time to do these things these days.

  • This dog cracks me up. Yesterday, I saw him lower his arse down on the remote control which was sitting on the floor, it lights up and changed the channel. No paws were used.

Today he tried to barge into the YL's room (he stands on his hind legs and pushes) but it's shut properly so he slid down sideways clawing at it as he goes down. Repeat.

  • had a good sleep in

    early lunch done

    then off the beach

    then finish painting

    do a few loads washing

cook a big amount of dinner for the week, it will be garam masala spiced burgers

and the usual amount of daily organising and cleaning

That leaves the rest of the week mostly open for reading and studying 😊

    • That sounds lovely.

      I slept in too

      Beach walk

Bought a couple of things from the shops

      Lunch of fresh bruschetta mix

Now to find where those little pantry moths are hiding and eliminate them.

  • checklist

sleep in done painting done beach done cats looked after cooking done

now to finish the washing, clean the dishes and do some writing 🫠

  • the new method of brushing paint then dry rolling furniture is working well , no streaks 👍

  • I've been thinking it's just a couple more boxes needed for about four boxes now, and the kitchen cupboards still aren't empty 😭

And once I finish the kitchen I still have a laundry cupboard, the bedroom and some shed/garden stuff to do. I think I underestimated how much physical effort this takes. When I was younger and fitter I could have got this done a lot quicker.

Oh yeah, I still have to do a final clean of the fridge and freezer too.

    • It's always more boxes than you think. I really was almost furious at myself the way I kept going and going and going when I moved out of my last place. How TF did I accumulate so much shit in just 4 years?! I ended up having to cull more than I thought, and it was all hurried and anxiety-inducing.

    • it always takes more boxes than you think

      • I have absolutely no idea how all that stuff possibly fitted in the shelves and cupboards, I am convinced everything must expand as it goes into the box.

  • All the gardening gadgets are going outside. The mower, whipper snipper, leaf blower and the favourite, the edger. I've chucked him a coffee. I'm soooo nice.
