Dipping > slathering in sauce. Less messy and more control over chip to sauce ratio

French fries are meant to be dipped. If they have shit dumped all over them, they are no longer fries, they are potato nachos. Which is delicious, but it's not French fries.

Let me introduce you to poutine

I eat my fries no sauce. I like the taste potato with a little bit of salt in it.

Salt

The correct answer is chile verde and cheddar cheese. I don't care if you need to eat it with a fork, it's what happiness tastes like.

Fight this:

Chili, to make chili cheese fries. Yum.

Also good w/ tater tots.

Call me crazy but I mess my fries up and eat them with a fork.

Salt and Malt Vinegar go all over my fries.

I sort of consider dipping fries and fries with stuff on them to be two different but related species of meal, pretty much exactly like the difference between chips-and-salsa and nachos. Frychos.

As to preferences, for dipping, spicy ketchup (mix tomato ketchup 1-for-1 with siriacha or other hot sauce); for frychos, fucking everything! Load em up: guacamole, chilli, cheese, onions, peppers, bacon, mushrooms, gravy, salsa, mustard, marshmallows, spinkles, alright alright I'm getting carried away now, you get the idea!

I drown them in malt vinegar and then dip them in tartar sauce.

As God commands. Anything else is sacrilegious.

I vote for cheesy fries. I used to like malt vinegar on steak fries/potato wedges, but I can't eat it anymore (fucking Celiac's).

I put salt on my fries. I dip them not.

Messy fries > dipping fight me.

Depends on the chips/fries and what the sauce is. Sometimes I want just a wee bit to add a kick, other times I want to be face pounded by some cheesy garlic goodness

I love disco fries & poutine, but its not an everyday thing for me. (Disco fries are like an American version of poutine with beef gravy & yellow American cheese instead of cheese curds)

I make a dipping sauce from ketchup & mayo and will variously embellish it with things like mustard/dill relish/sriracha or worcestershire/garlic/oregano/lemon juice

I also make a "buffalo ranch seasoning" with cayenne, garlic, vinegar powder and powdered ranch dressing.

Cheese & bacon bits with sour cream is another favorite.

Sateh saus, mayonaise and raw chopped onions, the "patatje oorlog" in the Netherlands, or "war fries". Sooooo good

salt obviously but besides that cheese and bacon.

Put them in a paper cone and slather them with mayonnaise.

Sometimes I'm a put things on the fries fella, sometimes I'm a dippin' boy. There's no bad answer—only good fries!
