Further update for anyone who saw my previous posts:
I haven't gotten the message telling me I've been accepted, but my payment in my Centrelink online account has swapped to Disability Support Pension. This is such a huge load off my shoulders. I finally made it.
Payment schedule is odd, my "last payment" listed says 13th of July, but I received my $33 telephone allowance just after midnight tonight, which is odd since that was meant to arrive tomorrow. My first listed payment(the 13th of July "last payment" one) also has reduced pension payment but 3x the rent assistance and pension supplement on it. Very weird.
Still have to wait on Centrelink's letter to see if I have any mutual obligations, but I'm so happy. I think I'll get some backpay to my claim date, but some people have said online that they only backpay if the claim took over 6 months, or had to be appealed. So I'm not sure. Still. Happy.
That's awesome news for you. Dealing with Centrelink is such a pain, it's great to actually get some good out of it.
While I was on the Disability Support Pension I only had to apply for 12 jobs which was nice. I still had to go in to so my provider and such, but they were nice enough where if I say "I can't, I am in a lot of pain" she'd be like "okay I'll reschedule". But I still wish I could've just had phone call appointments... sigh.
But this is very exciting for you! It felt so good when I got my backpay back in early 2020.
Congratulations! I know what it's like waiting for Centrelink to do anything 🙄
Thank you for sharing the good news :)
Amazing news 😁
Congratulations! Been there, I know what a relief it is to have it sorted.
I just got an email from my supervisor saying that my thesis is almost there. About one more week of concentrated effort and then it’ll be done. Then I’ll have my final month to just proofread, check the citations, format and do all the frontmatter nonsense. I’m so happy I could cry.
dude, life post thesis is amazing. its not like you earn any more money or anything, but just NOT THINKING ABOUT YOUR THESIS is amazing. youre so close!
I’m already fantasising about all the things I’m going to do with all the time I’ll have once my life is no longer filled with existential dread. Mostly I just want to sleep and close all the fucking Taylor & Francis tabs that are open on my web browser constantly 😭
I have enjoyed the entire process and I love my research but I am just very much not having a good time at the moment. And from what all my colleagues tell me, when you start feeling like you want to die, that’s how you know you’ve entered the end game with it.
So cool. 😊👍
While the daily thread is awesome, has anyone noticed how the rest of Lemmy feels like reddit years ago? Way less anger and arguments about who is technically correct etc… It’s just more fun.
I browsed popular on reddit today and suddenly loads of them are rateme or amiugly etc… that were never in that feed full of incel neck beard reply’s. I like it here :)
Some of us remember when Reddit was a lot like this. Smaller, a bit more techie, lots more laid back than it is today.
I'm also a little scared that this will end up like Reddit. Not totally scared, because there's no single company trying to maximise your engagement with rage bait and dopamine. But a little scared what 100 million users would bring.
Feels like the circle of life.
Feels a bit mIRC spec. Not the look but the vibe of the thing. Happy memories.
Felt like reddit today when I was called unhinged and blocked people lol. But it's definitely a much nicer vibe overall.
Why can’t people just be nice to each other? :(
I just won Metro lotto - arrived at the station as the train was pulling up, and got a forward facing window seat.
Competed in another marathon axe throwing tournament on Sunday. The level of competition was crazy, 12 out of 19 people hitting the max score throughout the day, i hit it 6 times, the top guy hit it 12 times. Finished the round robin in 3rd and then after an incredibly tough finals came home with 3rd place. Everything is really coming together, i have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the last 3 major comps ive entered and its all great practice for Sydney in September :)
heeeeyyyy nice to see you here. congrats on the results: ive been to maniax a few times this year mostly for friends' birthdays etc, and its actually pretty hard to improve, so nice one!
Nice to see you too :) Yeh it can be tough, small adjustments can make big differences and trying to be consistent is the key :)
Interesting! What distance(s?) do you normally throw in the competitive scene?
If you win in Sydney do you then have to compete against Jason Momoa? 😊
About 4.5m for hatchet and 5.5m for big axe. Momoa got nothing on me :P
I've arrived at my cousins place out west that I'm catsitting at for the next month. It's one of those soulless rabbit warren new estates but the house itself is actually really nice (they supervised the build and did a lot of rectifications) Cat is fairly happy with her own company but still appreciates a human to dish out the wet food..
Despite a second physio visit my neck and shoulders are still feeling awful. Flat out of money until i get paid tomorrow night, but on top of buying me groceries of my exact favourite brands and leaving the house in a very clean and cozy state, my cousin and partner have very generously left a $500 gift card. What a lovely feeling. Going to use that on a massage this weekend. I'm disgustingly exhausted ...
For some reason the new new estates with 0 trees are just the fucking worst hey. I’m in a 2000’s estate and yeah look it’s not great, but at least they had the forethought to put in some feature trees.
To be fair it takes time for the trees to grow. But the endless colorbond monument and the tiny trees struggling because the developers didn't give a shit, and the eaves just about touching each other...
I am appreciating the quietness though, I'll say that much
That’s so nice of them to do that for you.
I hope the pain isn’t too bad. You didn’t pinch a nerve did you?
Rest well and hope you feel better soon Kitten!
No idea if I pinched a nerve. Honestly maybe I did but the physio keeps going on about stress and I'm like yeah I know that's an issue but I think something specific has happened here
Yea I think every time there's a neck tweak it always takes a bit of time :( And is that a tile on that kittos collar?
:( great I guess I might have to deal with this for a while. Friend is taking me to a sauna room tomorrow, hopefully it helps. And yes, well spotted. She's not allowed outside but it's on her just in case she does a runner while the door's open (or I can't find where she's hiding...) She's not a fan. Clunky
Neck and shoulder pains are so horrible, ugh! Those rabbit warren estates are soulless at night. I grew up near one and I went to parties as a teen where I was actually grateful for hearing cold chisel. Keep us posted.
I won't lie, I'm kind of glad to be away from the hustle and bustle and to sleep to the sound of total silence. That said, I can see how one becomes house bound here. There is nothing within walking distance and zero things to do.
Wow I must be old... Took me a while to figure out how to get here. What? Get off my lawn.
Welcome old timer.👵🏻👴🏻
Why thank you!
What kind of pudding are you?
The post-COVID type 🤣
I have way too many things to do, so of course I'm not doing any of them because I don't know where to start. Small bites. Getting dressed is a good start. I've already scrubbed the shower and washed my hair. Dressed, dry hair, clean floors is next.
Hey that's great, you've already done heaps! I like to write a "done" list as much as a "to do" list. It helps me feel a bit more accomplished.
Got most it done in a bizarre order, now to chill out for a bit... D4, come at me!! What's the name of the exercise challenges you've been doing? I'm really interested in the tummy one! I need to work on my core and your comment about standing straighter really struck me!
Hooray! Here is a pin for you, botbot, so that you won't fly away. 📌
Day 18 of exercise program and day 3 of 10 day tummy challenge completed. I'm already feeling like I can walk a little straighter! Which is great because I'm a real sloucher.
Good work😊. I'm on a rest day from the weights today, but will have lots of walking.
Zoning out with my jeans halfway up my thighs,
\
Sitting on the couch, waiting for the sunrise.
\
Gonna leave the house, these walls I despise,
\
Though I'm loathe to leave, I must break these ties.
I've been in good company, while all by myself,
\
I should break these walls, I should reach out,
\
But I don't see the point, I'm full of self-doubt.
\
I know I'll feel better,
\
If I accept this offer.
\
But they could do better,
\
What do I have to offer?
\
Am I really so human to be around others?
\
Can I be carefree, can I not be a bother?
\
Ignore that aversion!
\
Maybe I'm cool in person...
\
There's only one way to know:
\
I have to get up and go.
Edit: Image Description: white/tabby cat on my clothing rack. He has a look of slight worry as his backfeet (not pictured) fall between the rungs.
You got this 💪
IMAX tickets for Oppenheimer acquired! The last time I was IMAX I was with a bunch of mates watching Inception and I remember it being such an awesome experience so hopefully it's just as good (or better) this time around.
My last IMAX film was Dune. I shall be going there to see part 2 for sure.
Oh that would have been good to see! I watched it at home on my tv and fell asleep midway so maybe if I saw it at IMAX I would've stayed awake :D
My last IMAX venture was Avatar. Cool cinema but the seats we got maybe was a tad too close.
Yeah we had to book Tues afternoon tickets cause all there were no good seats left in the evening shows (as in seats in the prime locations)
That's how IMAX is supposed to work - you're seated close to the screen so it fills a substantial part of your peripheral vision. It works very well for content shot specifically for IMAX, but films intended for conventional cinemas don't work so well, and you need to keep turning your head to look around the screen.
Since we're doing dinner posts, image ID: blue bowl of stirfry veggies and pork on rice, and a Temple Brewing Co. Okinawa Sour.
Left over pork from a roast we did to put meat in out dishes. Very filling :)
I hope everyone is having a nice night, sending you all my love 💜
Made with Shikuwasa, aka. citrus depressa 💀
aww yeeee bby 🤤 🤤
Oooooo. I'm not gonna tell the man that you got pork and he got tuna. You and your meal are fucking awesome.
haha I won't tell either lol. My better-half made this, he's the cook here haha. I bake sweet things and bread sometimes, and do the dishes, he makes dinner. We like to grab a hunk of pork roast when it's on special (usually it's about to go bad, so it can be quite cheap). We'll roast it and then use it in our meals for a week or so. It's a good way to make sure we get protein and whatnot :)
Yum yum there and I hope the can of brew you have is nice too!
Also feeling better after I ate some pasta my side still hurts some.
I'm glad you're feeling better, friend! Hopefully it resolves fully soon :)
I love pasta, such a fantastic invention!
are you listening to german christian radio🤔
haha nah just my german playlist - that song is Ich Tanze Mir Mir Allein - Madsen
It's been a big day and I'm heading to bed early. Bot #001 is on night shift, and will now be handling the day name in the new post title. Hopefully it won't be a repeat of last Thursday (which it marked as Wednesday).
Any plans for a Sydney or NSW Daily Discussion Thread? Seems to be a great idea.
It’s like early spring out here. Sun warm, wind not too cold. Went out in short sleeves for lunchtime walk and not cold.
El Niño has been declared this season,
\
The Sun warms us up, that's the reason.
\
It'll be hot and dry, oh so relatable,
\
La Niña was humid and fucked, oh so excitable.
\
Witness the symptoms of our climate attack,
\
She's left and El Niño is here bringing sweaty back.
edit: corrected :)
Now I'll never hear that lame song in the same way again. ahahahah, thank Stud. JT paid a few of my bills over the years, but his music is not what I would ever choose to listen to.
I've turned off the heating and opened the windows to let some fresh air in, it's glorious
No mood killer like nighttime bus mood killer. If inspectors are gonna keep checking buses, and if prices are this high, then they better be on damn time. A bus being late by three minutes can delay my getting home by forty minutes.
That's not worth ten bucks a day.
EDIT: Yup, won't be home until 11. Bus is that late. Fuck PTV.
This morning was waiting, waiting, writhing, then three turn up simultaneously and two leave empty without pause. Road works are a removed, but please try to deliver the timetable.
Nope, but here's a $300 fine, as well as treatment as if you're a criminal, for not being able to afford a $10 daily fare for our fucked PT system
It's fucking cold out there too! It feels like there's no quality control of the service, only customer compliance. Did you pay for the shitty service? No? Then we won't attack the shitty service, just you. Are you on a bus now or still waiting?
Finally on a bus, but fuck me that was a long (and cold) wait.
It really is shite, you'd think it'd be an easy fix too; each inspector costs 100k a year, drop them and the ticketing system and it's quite likely it'd break even (also, y'know, it's a public service. I already pay for it out of my taxes, why am I getting double-charged?)
The second best kitchen appliance is the rice cooker*
\
Shiny base, matte black lid, uh such a looker
\
No I don't have a crush on the rice cooker
\
This appliance can't be my culinary hooker
\
My heart only has space for one nutritional love
\
A nightshade root, gifted from mother nature above
\
Its many forms, into my mouth I will shove
\
Apologies, I digressed from my second true love
\
Rice cooker
\
Without ya
\
I probably just use pasta 🤷♀️

Edit: I don't really use rice enough to have a rice cooker, also small kitchen. Lots of times if I'm making a rice dish it's cooked in the with sauce too, like risotto, paella type dishes, chilli con carne style meals where I add rice into the pan. On the rare occasion I want to make some plain rice I feel like I do a good enough job in a saucepan
Easy stove top fluffy rice every time:
1 cup rice unrinsed, 1.5 cup water. Add to cold pot bring to boil lid off. Simmer on low 12 mins with the lid on. Turn heat off wait 10 mins with lid on (do not take off).
Fluff with fork.
Fluffy
Every time
Major fluff.
I like cooking more rice then needed, I dry the leftovers out in the oven on low for a few hours and use that in stirfrys. Tbh, I have not cooked rice in a pan/pot before haha
yes!!! I have a microwave rice cooker, cos i don't have space for a real one. It works. I should really start padding my meals out with brown rice again, it's such a great food.
do it! relatively cost effective way to get full and pad out the meals :D
little space photo from tonight. Not the best sky tonight.
That's the 'Norma cloud' and NGC 6067.
cool 😊
So many stars :)
Cool photo :) Are we allowed to post twitter names here? There's a great space photographer I'd love to plug, his work is great
For sure! all astro photos are good photos in my book :)
Still a great pic!
In good news, the museum was free with my student card. In bad news it was so horrifically noisy I bailed after less than ten minutes before I had a meltdown. It is not a good place to be with a noise sensitivity.
I did have a lovely walking tour around town taking lots of photos of parks and buildings. I walked from Treasury Gardens up to Melbourne Uni then down to Flagstaff, so I'm very much enjoying being able to sit down for a while on the train
Someone should buy you the Fairpods-XL for Xmas 😊
Cats cuddled, gas bill paid, 2 loads of washing done and on the line along with the Uniqlo thermals that didn't quite dry yesterday.
Now having a breather with Sammi on my lap and texting back and forth with my aunt about options for restaurants for my birthday, before I take up some leaves for the green bin.
Good BotBot
very good bot 😀
Massaged, dry needled and back cracked by the physio.....ahhhhhhh if only I could relive this feeling every day (for free)
I could do with one of those today for sure, it sounds so nice.
A $25 1m foam roller off eBay was one of the best things I ever bought for my back.
I've successfully sorted my photos from my trip today. The systems garden at Melbourne University had some really great plants, and there was a lot there for the size of it. I also enjoyed looking at the buildings around town, both old and new. There is such an amazing variety of styles and it has been quite a few years since I have been in town to see them. Google maps just shrugged and said "I dunno" when I asked it how to get home, so I wandered until I saw tall buildings to follow, which led me to Queen Victoria Market. I used to work nearby, but it has changed a lot since then.
If you'd like to see my photos, they are on my blog.
I proposed to my wife under the centre dome of the Exhibition Building. Genius move, because I’d see the building as I went past every day and be reminded regularly of that moment – but almost never get a chance to go inside, so it never became something mundane. Also, great odds that building would be there longer than us. We’re now in Perth, and it’s been years since I went past the building on the tram. You’ve brought back some happy and special memories. Thank you.
Looks like you have an incredible eye for detail! Loved it
I do like details. I especially liked that the fountain at Carlton Gardens had platypus on it 🙂
great photos!
I think that's the best insect hotel I've ever seen as well! Lovely pics.
Just looked through my primary school report cards sent over by my mother, and I didn't even remember this, but they actually marked on the cards whether you were underweight, overweight or of an "acceptable weight". Aside from the fact that we were sitting multiple exams per year from age 7 onwards back then, it sounds so ridiculous that they had our weight on there. Did they do that in Australian primary schools back in the 90s?
e: I have chalked up this weight business to certain countries being way too numbers oriented about everything even with young children
can confirm, no weight ever noted on report cards
Not weight no. They'd record your 'beep' test results and the PE teacher would talk to parents about it along with general fitness / performance at sport.
Same with the beep test results.
We had a whole ass fitness test every year with 5 stations testing different types of fitness and a 1.6 km (later 2.4 km) run
NSW primary schools did give students a few annual health checks in the ’80s and ’90s. There were hearing checks, visual acuity checks, colourblindness checks, and a few other things. I think they did weigh students, but don’t quote me on it as I could be mistaken. However, it didn’t appear on report cards. I think it was only ever used for referring a student to a medical specialist, or for welfare checks in extreme cases.
I think like my PE teachers would always remark that I didn't do sports, that I'd need more encouragement and stuff (shocker it's because I had undiagnosed ADHD, I actually like doing active stuff it's just never had the motivation to do it)
But I don't remember weight at all. They probably mentioned it and was like saying that I'm fat but in "nicer" ways. But I don't recall ever having my weight listed.
Definitely not
Never had it commented on in QLD.
I don’t remember weight being one of the criteria on my report cards ever from memory.
I definitively know there was a comments sections and another for grading maybe.
:)
(:

Already forgot about the herring, going to see if I can grab some tomorrow when I do my shopping.
I wonder if it'd pair well with pasta sauce?
It probably would be fine... but I'd say mackerel or tuna would work better - at least in a tomatoey pasta sauce. The herring (aka. Kippers, if your shopping for them and get confused) is a bit more delicate, it's a white fish versus the meatiness of tuna/mackerel
It does. Very well indeed.
I finally have had a calmer day.
I am having kitty cuddles and knitting my way through the first clue of a sock along.
Feeling better.
The Goon Squad is out in force at Essendon right now. Avoid like the plague if you don't wanna be hassled. [edit] Ticket inspectors 🎟️ 🔎 if I'm not being clear enough.
Their job title is stupid - 'authorised officer'
Imagine telling someone what your job is, with no context of living in Melbourne.
I'm an authorised officer_
What's that?
You know...a ticket inspector
Well fucking say that next time...twat
*international student tear inducement officer.
Vacuuming is done! But also I have completely forgotten what I was up to with everything else. I feel like I'm in a bit of a career and identity crisis at the moment which is distracting me heaps. I will try my best to get back on track.
Take a deep breath and let it out slowly, repeat. We don’t want you turning into a pretzel 🥨
Thanks I'll need that. Think I'm okay....just need a LOT of thinking space and time to untangle things in my head.
Somehow I've hurt my foot. Not in the "I've been working on my feet all day" way that's familiar to me, but on top of the foot as though I dropped something heavy on it (except I didn't). Just liberally sprayed with my go to pain relief spray and contemplating my dinner. Mr Peeler cooked shazlicks which were lovely but the chicken ones could've done with a little more cooking (I checked the kids ones and they were fine, just mine didn't seem right). Pray for me!
Oh holy undercooked chook god/s please look after PeelerShelia she does amazing things and she doesn't deserve to be ill right now. 🙏 amen
Thankyou for your thoughts and prayers, seriously. I like to believe there is a chicken God with resplendent plumage, piercing avian stare and faint BBQ waft.
I'm curious how shashlik came to be shazlick for some people. Is it in Aussie thing?
Talking about foodporn, look at this creamy, yellow mac'n'cheese. If you slurp it, it sounds just like c...onsumption! :D
I love mac'n'cheese, it's a top-tier comfort food!
Pasta for you and I thought I went the tomato pasta sauce route.
I’m so full now!
First day back in the office this afternoon so you bet I'm just anxiously sitting about my house until it's time to get ready.
On a brighter note, I did get a phone call from my supervisor earlier to confirm I had all my security tags in check, which gave me the brief opportunity to mention moving out of my position now we've returned to the office. They've said they'd move the conversation up the chain and see what can be done, apparently one of my coworkers has asked to be moved as well.
Are only certain positions required to attend the office for your workplace?
Certain positions and sections are afforded more lenient WFH schedules. Despite my section being the most able to WFH someone in upper management was out to flex their muscles due some politicking that's be going on amongst the ranks.
Hey @Force_majeure122@aussie.zone I made a fish dish too.
Image: One rectangular dish full of tuna mornay.
That's something I'd be happy to have in my lunchbox for reheats at work, nice colours.
Thank you. It's my lunch tomorrow if nobody attacks it first.
dayum girl, that's some hot'n'tasty foodporn. Cheesy ;)
I fucking loaded that thing with heaps of veg to counteract the carbs, cream and shitload of cheese I put in it.
Yummm. I adore tuna mornay, and most fishy pasta tbh. Idk why tuna mornay gets a bad rap it's so good!
Technically not a mornay because I made it with cream but I'll call it what I like.
Who de's punks dissin' the fish dish? I'll mess em up.
Yummy creation there. Been ages since I’ve had tuna Mornay and they’re yummy too.
I admit I’m sometimes scared to make cream sauces incase I don’t like them.
Don't be scared of cream. Cream is a friend unless you're lactose intolerant then it's a different story.
OMG. I haven't had tuna mornay since forever and this looks amazing. Might have to put it on the agenda this week.
As long as there's pics for us.
I enjoy watching The Witcher but my god Jaskier is so annoying.
Tell you what, being in the office has got me feeling like a rat in a warming pot. Had to do a fire safety tour and spent the entire time thinking how embarrassing it would be to have a panic attack on my first day back.
fuck it I'm having a sauna
Sounds amazing tbh
Ahsoka trailer has warmed up my cold heart.
Show looks lit af
I'm so excited for live action Thrawn
I hope they do the character justice. I remember reading a bunch of SW novels back in the late 90s and was introduced to him. He was fine in Rebels but definitely needs a bigger role.
I’m familiar with the character. I’ve seen a bit of clone wars, but basically nothing of rebels. And I’m a huge fan of Rosario Dawson… but I don’t understand why she sounds so… flat? Is that the word? To me Ahsoko was anything BUT. She was bright, inquisitive and driven. And the clips I’ve seen of rebels she was a touch more reserved and self confident, but this version of her she sounds like she’s totally over everything and everyone.
I don’t think it’s Rosario’s fault, I just don’t like the direction this is going.
Rebels was meh at the start, but got pretty dang good. Clone wars is a must watch for SW fans.
Maybe they're taking a 'mature and dejected' Ahsoka approach in this?
I guess Christmas in July is a real thing. At least KFC thinks so and says we should all be wearing ugly Christmas jumpers, putting up Christmas trees, ordering chicken buckets, and having the time of our lives with friends at a party.
That's ridiculous. The only good thing about Christmas is the Christmas pud and custard. Everybody knows that. Get back in your hole kfc.
Fun fact: KFC in actual Christmas is a thing in Japan but I agree, nice try.
That's ridiculous. The only time I ever did Xmas in July was when my late FIL was alive (barely) and I didn't think he'd make it until Xmas. So I did a family Xmas in July so he could enjoy something and we'd have an occasion to remember, and bugger me if I didn't fluke one of the nicest meals I've ever cooked. People still talk about it kinda hopefully around this time of year but I only did it that one time for special reasons. KFC can go to buggery.
That's lovely and precious❤ I hear about people wanting to do Xmas in July from time to time but don't think I've ever participated. It's just kinda weird.
I’m more a Halloween gal and my anxiety keeps me from parties so No Christmas in July for this girl, sorry kfc
That's a no from me.
new inks and paint have been obtained , calligraphy india ink, dark blue, metallic black and a box of mixed colours , wheeee 😀😀😀
I have to have a phone call with someone for this job... Ughhhhhhhh I don't wanna!
But I've gotta rip the band-aid off soon.
You can do it! Good luck!
Just don't know why people can't read emails. Like the info is there.
I'm gonna kms if it's just basic stuff that was in the email... (The kms comment is very sarcastic!!!!)
My body battery says 77 today. It might have had something to do with the 11 hours of sleep I had. Ready for the day.
I feel like my body battery is at 5 today no matter how much coffee I drink.
That's me most days but I just fight it.
I walked over 7km on my trip around town today. Now I'm home and Mr woof really wants second walkies. I probably should go now before I sieze up and can't move at all.
Well you are rusty after all, so good call. 😅
During the axe throwing marathon on Sunday i managed to walk 15km haha
My husband manages 23,000 steps most days around the warehouse. The man is a machine.
Could someone pour some oil on your joints?
Image: A Bic cigarette lighter depicting a cartoonish Flinders Street Station, a tram and a hot air balloon.
That's a bit cute! Lighting a few scented candles with it this evening?
Yes of course.
Cool! Where'd you get that?
A little smoke shop in Roxburgh Park.
I've had that one. I think it's cute.
Imagine watching "Judgement at Nuremberg", a moving film about the Nazi war crime trials. Imagine it was rewritten so that the judges are presented as conflicted and incompetent, the case presented that Goring, Speer , Ribbentrop and other architects of the war could not be tried because there was no laws against it at the time. Also that the Allies were really responsible because they were imperial powers and anyway, they knew Germany was going to attack and could have stopped them. And did you hear about Dresden? The Allies bombed a city. So it was ALL the Allies responsibility and choice. Not Germany's fault at all. Then you read the credits and the movie was made by Nazis.
Kind of like all the shit Russia is saying now to justify attacking Ukraine and committing genocide.
Kind of like the shit every single one of these genocidaire presidents say at the War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague. "You have no right to try me, I do not recognise you. You are the criminals, not me. Also, not guilty. "
That's what watching "Tokyo Trial " on Netflix is like. Imagine my shock when I read the credits and the series was partly made by the Japanese government. ( no shock at all, just a little that they have the gall to say it out loud when they have been told a hundred times ) Shame on them.
If it were in my purview I would make formal diplomatic complaints.
Don't watch Tokyo Trial, it's the worst propaganda.

Had to scrounge the back of my brain for that one lol
In other news, just had a young guy in hi vis gear knocking on the door doing the 'we're doing some painting for your neighbours, noticed you needed some work done, would you like a quote' spiel.
Suuuuure, mate.
Years ago, we had some young dudes going around saying they're from the council (they weren't) and that we have to pay them $40 to paint our house number on the curb. They got upset when we said no and told us we'd get a fine from the council. They got even more upset when I said, let me ring the local council to verify that this actually a thing.
Had the same about a decade and a half ago. A lot of neighbours took them up and the numbers wore off in about 6 months heh.
Finding time for driving lessons has been proving really hard but I’m going insane being stuck at home with the baby all day. I think I need to brave figuring out the bus with pram etc because then at least I could get to the shopping centre or train station but I’m scared :-(
gotta say.. I was a lot more nervous with the dentist hacking away on my teeth with a scraper and his drill when there's no anaesthesia involved. Glad to not have a numb face for the rest of the day though!
Huh, that was my yesterday. Had a missing filling and required no numbing. My dentist is awesome and efficient. 30 minutes in an out for a fairly deep cavity (more of a tooth rebuild).
Okay. I've talked through the key issues bothering me and there's a bit more clarity. I've jotted down my thoughts and a bit of a plan on a page and I feel slightly calmer. I'm not sure what's next but at least that's something.
How do you feel about posts like this on c/Melbourne?
I'm noticing it's getting downvoted, it might be a bit too on the negative side of topics for the community, I'm also worried about removing it because of the topic as well, would like to hear some input.
Leave it up man. Get some some variety up in this bish.
It’s two hours long and nobody gonna listen to it anyway.
Leave it up. Then it's the reader/listener's choice. Maybe a nsfw warning.
I like Shaun's video, and it's informative. But I would necessarily take it down. Yeah it's pretty negative, but I'd hate for this instance to be forced toxic positivity like "everything's fine, everything's cool". etc.
It has nothing to do with Melbourne though or Australia
