  • Stopping by for a life update because it’s been a while.

    • PhD is submitted and I’m in limbo for now
    • still very overworked
    • my worst fears have been realised. the three (3) pear trees that are in the front and back yard at this house are, indeed, the cum variety
    • I’m reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built this weekend and it’s such a fucking delight. One of the best things I’ve read all year, and I’ve read over 40 books now.

What’s new with you guys. I’ve missed you ❤️

  • 364 pages. 157,000 words. 死ぬほど疲れた

  • The thing I’m most excited about it closing all those physical tabs open on my desktop, as well as all the mental tabs I have open in my head. I’ve been running on 100% bandwidth for about 2 years and I can’t wait to finally be done.

That and the sweet pay rise I get once I’m conferred. 👌

  • “Baby.” It definitely feels like that. It also feels like I’ve been pregnant for 41 months and i’m so exhausted and I’m just about ready to throw the whole thing out the window. Apparently that’s how you know you’re basically done.

Once I’ve sent it off, my supervisors want a version of the pdf for their reference. I’ve told them that even if they notice a typo in there, under no circumstances are they to tell me until I get my examiners report I can actually do something about it.

  • Been a while since I dropped by. This is why:

I think we’re finally at submission day 😬

  • I just wonder where it comes from at all? Absolutely nothing that I’ve done/watched/read/whatever recently seems linked. Why did my brain pull that out?

  • Taiyaki are basically just pancake batter filled with whatever. Traditionally red bean paste. This time I did red bean paste, chestnut paste and Nutella. I also really like filling them them a crème patissiere or yuzu curd if I have enough time/foresight to make it ahead. Because you cook them in the special mold, they get a nice crispy outside. People tend to have a preference for eating the head or the tail first. I personally like to go tail-first 😈

  • Urgh. The ‘real’ dreams are the worst. It must have been the night for it.

There was nothing particularly directly threatening to myself in the dream, and the events of dream itself was pretty mundane, but the sense and feeling that I wasn’t safe just living my life was enough to have me waking up in a sweat.

  • Made taiyaki for dessert. It was so enjoyable

  • We’re pretty boring. Nothing on it besides our lil whiteboard for notes. I’ve been using it to practice my handwriting for the kanji I have to teach next week

  • I truly don’t think I can appreciate it in any way. Genuinely one of the most upsetting and bad things I’ve ever read. I slogged through it exactly because it’s so revered, but damn I did not enjoy it

  • It was a tough decision for me too. Sherlock Holmes is the only one of the 4 that I don’t own, and I did really like the design. I might have to go back for it once the month is up.

  • Ooh! What’s it called? That sounds great!

I used one of my audible credits to get this narrated/voice acted version of Austen. People in the reviews are really mad because they had to take some very minor liberties with the exact wording here and there to make it work with the audiobook format. I’ve been really enjoying experiencing them in a new way though!

  • The design is only available with this bundle at T2! And only for this month! That’s what got me in the end. I’m a sucker for limited editions

  • Right? The only bad thing is it’s got gold foiling, so it can’t go in the microwave, which is terrible news for me and my habit of forgetting about hot drinks and having to reheat them.

  • Nothing particularly against the Brontës. If it was Jane Eyre, I’d be all over it like pash rash. It’s Withering Heights I take my umbrage with. Two of the worst characters/people doing things that really should land them in prison. They’re both emotionally, mentally and at times physically abusive to everyone around them. And it’s painted as a great love story. It’s also really fucking boring.

The Kate Bush song slaps though

  • Got myself a lil treat today and bought the t2xpenguine publishers set.

I actually really loved the withering heights design but I refuse to have the book in my house. So I’ve bought probably my 6th version of p&p. I’m so excited by it.

  • Ok, but the view from the second camera angle. Melbourne is so pretty.

Did we always have two camera angles? I didn’t follow that closely last year, but I thought the camera just panned depending on the side they nested on
