  • Got the cross-stitch project done! Now let's see if I can master this spoiler thing:
::: spoiler my cross stitch project

    :::

    • Good work (both the cross stitch and the spoiler!).

Is it going to be framed, or finished in some other way?

    • You are close. The link needs to be on a seperate line in the middle, and the text you want to show should be written after spoiler.

If you make the link and highlight it, then hit the spoiler tag (the triangle with ! in the centre) it should put it in the right place, and you can replace the second "spoiler" with new text if you want.

    • Highlight ! to ) and click the spoiler button, or use this. I think what's missing from your code is you need to start a new line after spoiler and )

    • Bonus hint: If you want to look at another person's code to see how they have done something

  • Heavy things lifted. Miss Meow is very confused about the point of it all, but has also done her own exercise routine, involving stalk and pounce of a small piece of cardboard and a limbo across the weight bench and under the barbell. She is now suggesting it would be a good time to eat some protein.

  • Update from my post yesterday about the disability medical assessment I had for my disability claim, for anyone that saw that.

Had the appointment. The assessor was nice, I was so nervous I was stuttering. I don't even have a stutter, so that was weird. Took all of 10-15 minutes and I was exhausted after.

Now I just wait I guess. The estimated completion time is 4th of August, so if it takes that long I think I'll get around $2k in backpay, which is enough to pay off two of my debts and get things back on track(do they still backpay the difference in payment for people currently on jobseeker? Actually unsure on that.)

The suspense is killing me. I should just avoid thinking about it, but that extra $400ish a fortnight would be life changing. And not having to make myself bedridden going to disability employment services appointments every other week.

Minecraft has been a good distraction. Been digging big holes to calm down. There's something Zen about it. Except that I keep burrowing in to giant cave systems and having to explore them for loot and glory, which is less relaxing.

  • It's cold and dark out there, but I'm going to brave it with Mr Woof to get first walkies done. Then I can follow up with some nice hot porridge for breakfast.

  • I've finally put a bow on a document I've been working on for months. Technology changes quickly and frequently so it has needed a bunch of changes since I started but I'm finally calling it "document correct as of date of writing" and will present it to my team tomorrow.

It was my largest piece of work and a huge weight off my shoulders - or rather will be after I present it to my team tomorrow. Now I can focus on thinking about what comes next for the 35 days until my holiday. Good times.

  • I just walked out of my work building and smashed my Apple watch really hard against the (metal) doorframe, and it took me until I got to my car to muster up the courage to inspect the damage 🥴 Incredibly, not a scratch on it. I'm genuinely surprised it didn't crack.

Time to stop being lazy and buy a cover, I just hate the way they look but if I actually end up smashing this thing I'll be gutted.

    • I spent the extra dosh to get a sapphire screen on my (Garmin) watch. I've had it for 4.5 years, it's been through the wars. The metal around the body has scratches, the paint has come off is a few places. The watch face itself though is perfect - as pristine as the day I bought it. It cost $150 more than the gorilla glass watch, but the investment has totally been worth it, given the rugged life it leads.

Oh. I just looked up the Apple store. The Ultra (Apple's sapphire watch) is $600 more expensive. Yeah - get a cover. :)

    • I keep forgetting you can buy covers for your watches. The amount of times I've banged my hand/wrists into walls and doors is staggering. There's a few scratches but nothing you notice unless you really look.

    • you mean like this right...?

  • Time for bed I think. Hopefully bot #001 can manage the night shift, it has been a big day. I think the day naming problem we had might be sorted (the bot will be putting it in the body of the post until I'm sure it won't mess up the title again!). There was also an update released for the base code which has been included, and I tried to do something else which went horribly wrong. I had to do a full system restore and reinstall everything to fix it, so the poor bot was homeless for a while. Everything looks fine again now, but if things go wrong tonight it's probably not the cat's fault.

  • Okay cleaned up after dinner and got the laundry folded. Didn't get around to vacuuming so tomorrow it'll have to be. Took a big task and broke it down into smaller tasks and will start with the first two tomorrow. Set myself some learning objectives and will start tonight. Yes I'm doing it I'm doing it. Slowly.

  • Lmao watching an older film and I forgot you used to be able to just hire porn from the video shop. I was to young to hire it but I was always curious about those who did, like were they embarrassed taking it to the counter.

    • didn't there used to be a back room for the porn ?

      • My local had it on the bottom shelf of the horror section. As a kid I loved looking at the scary case art in the horror section, and one day I got a proper fright when I pulled out a porno.

  • I had to force myself to get some work done today to prevent the rest of the week and next week from blowing up but I definitely need to take tomorrow and possibly Wednesday off because I feel like absolute death. Had a chat to one of my senior colleagues today about what happened last week and next steps because I need to feel like I'm taking action to get out of an unfulfilling dead end situation. But I also don't want to burn bridges and leave people hanging

  • Here I am up again, thinking.
\ Late night coffee, same old story.
\ Only two beers, but coffee I'm craving.
\ Fuck, I need to get my shit together,
\ I think I'm in for stormy weather,
\ Ugh, I have to get it all together.
\ I have to be an adult,
    \ Sooner or later.
\ Preferrably sooner rather than later.
\ I mean, sure, I'm quite messed up,
\ Longterm therapy is on the cards.
    \ Fighting myself
\ But I should be fighting for help.
\ But it isn't an excuse
    \ To stagnate.
\ This is not my fate,
    \ Just an actual phase.
    \ An inbetween state,
    \ While I mutate
    \ It's not too late
\ For me to close that gate
    \ Behind me.
\ I'm more than the sum of my past,
\ A human with some janky parts.
\ But it's all here, still chugging away,
\ Rusting but taking it day by day
\ Rusting away but it's okay.
    \ I'm temporarily corporeal,
\ We're all here for just a little while.
\ So thank you all for reading my prose,
\ Be it funny, sad, a little bit morose.
\ You all are amazing, so human and cool!
    \ Just keep being you.

  • My dessert!

Hope the link and spoiler works

    • Honestly love oranges and apples, looks so good!!

      • I picked up a handy tip awhile ago.

You can keep apples from browning by pairing it or sprinkling a citrus juice over them.

I used to do it with passion fruit and make it for the day after and the apples didn’t brown.

  • How is it 8pm already. Gotta do my everyday to do list then get onto the bigger one. I can do this I can do this...

    • I have decided that tonight I am in fact not going to do anything on the Lists (except feed my friend's cat, get back my laptop cable from her house, drop off these seedlings - eat dinner - and then run the loaded dishwasher). That's it. zzzzz

    • I've got no idea how that happened, I swear it was just after 7pm about 5 minutes ago!

    • You can do it. You can do it.

    • Crap. It’s past 8 already and all I did was some reading. Ok.

Time for actually make dinner and get ready for HYBPA tonight.

  • Bought my cat biscuits meant for sensitive stomachs and skin, the same brand as he has had before and within 10 minutes he vomited them up. I think he ate too fast but the irony is not lost on me.

    • It's like that children's book Walter the Farting Dog, where the low-fart dog biscuits just made him fart more.

My my 4yo's favourite book at the moment.

      • Should look into getting that for my nephew when his birthday rolls around in a few months (not blood related, but there's no name for "my best friend who feels more like a brother to me than best friend's kid" that isn't short and sweet).

      • Hahaha sounds like a great book and it really is exactly like that.

  • Thank god for a later start to the work day today.

Helped ease through having to wake up early again though I felt like I hardly slept last night because of very active dreams or thoughts.

Hopefully we can end today with an early finish as well and get home early.

Also been super heated here too then it got too hot and they had to let it cool down but now it’s to cold. Bleh!

  • Eggs on toast for lunch. Sticking it to the cafe yesterday for asking for 3 bucks for an egg (yes not plural) to be added to my brekkie but I guess that's the going price but also wtf.

  • One of my (late) birthday presents from my partner is a shirt from the brand Foxblood, and it's a long shirt (which is great because i won't accidentally show my stomach while walking) but the sleeves have these sort of thumb holes, so I can feel like the true emo 13 y/o wanted to be.

Here's the shirt for those curious (if you want to get it locally, I order from Bezerk, I say locally, they're based on QLD, so not so locally but within Australia).

    • 😍😍 looks so good, what a lovely gift!! I have a mighty need lol

      • I don't know what the rules are on wearing non-office clothes at work (because my clothes are mostly if not 99.99% are graphic tees) so I need to buy more office-friendly clothes. And I need clothes that fit my aesthetic, which is just my aesthetic when I was 13 but I have money now!

  • Project Upscale progress - 113/550. Seems worth it in terms of quality. I'm just using Upscyl (FOSS option) for this first try, and it's doing the job so far, quite happy with the results.

Also, coming across some things I'd forgotten about - ::: spoiler throwback to when I got to do something cool at work - nb. image not upscaled though

    :::

    • Haven't tried Upscyl yet. Been trying topaz gigapixel on some old (1940's) photos and the results were pretty decent. Can do some weird things to faces and textures though.

  • Got the lettering and the bottom part of the border done with the cross-stitch project.
Still feeling a little flat after the extraction so I think I'll stay in and have a good solid go to finish it.
