So the company that rejected my application after I interviewed with them earlier this week, called me yesterday and offered me another role. I had the interview this morning, which went better than I anticipated. Keeping my fingers crossed. Also have another interview lined up this afternoon. It feels nice to finally get some actual interviews for a change, instead of receiving straight-up rejections.
Often, the reason you don't get a role has little to do with yourself, and has more to do with who else also applied. They might have 10 people that can do the role great but only one role, so they can only pick one.
The fact they asked you to interview for this other role is a good sign they really liked you!
Woke up this morning to find the site has been down for some time. Sorry about that! No clue what happened, logs didn't really help, but at least it's up now.
Had some incredibly aggressive drivers when cycling in today... one even decided to come to a complete stop to block me, forcing me to brake (this was after they aggressively passed me beeping).... I don't know WTF is wrong with some people when they get behind the wheel
Anyway, if anyone has recommendations for cycling cameras, I'd love to hear them!
Sorry you had to deal with that. I wish motorists were better aware and kinder towards cyclists. These sort of incidents was basically what stopped me from buying an ebike to commute to work. If we could get dedicated and protected bike lanes, that would solve half the problem.
As for camera options, if you are the DIY type, you could make your own setup using a Raspberry Pi. Several blogs out there that have detailed the whole process, such as:
I'm using an old GoPro (Hero4) I had lying around, and bought a Kaiser Bass (cheap knock off GoPro) so had front and back covered. Works pretty well, the Kaiser is a bit jankey though.
I've previously been recommended these: https://cycliq.com/ but it's pretty pricey.
I'm on day 17 of my recovery from my vaccination. It's progressing okay so far, but I'm getting a bit restless. It's spring, birds are fighting, flowers are blooming, so psychologically you just want to do stuff and get out there!
Yeah, it's just they take a huge toll on me physically so I need to rest on my bed most of the time and not overdo it, to avoid a relapse of my underlying condition.
The other covid vacs I've had all took between 3-4 weeks each, so hopefully I'm more than halfway there, which is cool!
Good luck! It's difficult to convince our primary aged one to have something different. Literally only one type of sandwich ever (PB&J). She's gotten pickier as she got older. She won't eat a lot of the things we used to pack for her now.
Interesting, we aren't allowed peanut butter at school (or daycare).
TBH I try to get them to pack their own lunches more often these days so they will like what is packed, but I still need to buy stuff they want.
It's kinda like the Christmas present problem. We ask what they want for Christmas, and they don't know. The things they know about largely they have, and they don't know what other options are out there. They don't really get an opportunity to see ads so they don't get their ideas from there.
Plus I don't want to load their lunchboxes up with sugar or plastic wrappings. And I don't much like the idea of putting in hummus or other things normally kept cold. They often don't finish their lunch until they get home, and it seems a bad idea to eat stuff that's been at room temperature all day when it's supposed to be in the fridge.
Only one of the kids likes pizza, and that one only likes a very specific one!
Kids, man.
But thanks for the idea. I wonder if I can convince them to eat pizza if I get them to make them and decide what goes on then. Worth a shot, but I better not use the word "pizza" or they'll just say they don't like pizza and refuse to try it.
I've been buried in a book series lately so have been off my phone, computer, everything. I wish moderation was part of my makeup, I'll skip meals if it means I can read for an extra three minutes.
That's the rub: it's not brilliant but I'm completely sucked in. It's a vampire series by JR ward and I'm up to book 9 with about 15 to go. The romance is easy to flick past but the world building has totally reeled me in.
