/u/outwrangle before everything went to shit in 2020, /u/emma_lazarus for a while after that, now I’m all queermunist!

  • It's definitely not the same as deep frying, but it's also definitely not the same as roasting. imo it's its own thing with its own rules

  • Well, no, there's a slight distinction from roasting. The convection comes from a fan blowing the hot air around and that active movement removes moisture faster than simply heating it up like what happens during a roast. You really do get crisping.

  • With strange aeons even death may die.

  • We're already in a class war. They're winning.

  • Sorry grandma we can't afford to run your air conditioner we need that electricity for the new data center.

  • They meant "even if we ignore privacy concerns" because most people already do.

  • My drawer full of jalapeños was starting to wilt and a few had mold, so I salvaged what I could and threw them all in. That's all the hunks of green pepper in the picture. Then I added a homemade sauce made from jalapeño vinegar and pineapple juice.

Sooo good, but also I gave myself heartburn lol

  • It WAS

but also maybe a little spicy

  • Now THIS is how I should cook kidneys

  • Someone has to do the killing for you. In a firing squad, there's only one person with a real bullet, everyone else gets blanks. Why? Because killing people is bad for us, and by diffusing responsibility it makes the killers feel less horrible about it. But it still eats at them. You know people who work in slaughterhouses are more likely to commit suicide? How do you think executioners feel?

    Why force that on anyone?

  • What's the point?

  • 💯 💯 💯

Beans demand a lot from us.

  • Kidneys are all chewy, though! Totally throws off the vibe. 😮‍💨

They belong in a tortilla with sauce and caramelized onions.

  • On the bright side, young people are learning about circumventing government censorship.

  • I forgor to soak my garbanzos last night and so I had to fry my noodle dinner with canned kidney beans. 😣

  • There's different ways to do it iirc. It can either remain as a separate system for hot water or connect directly into the hot water heater and offset the energy costs for running it.

My showers are about three gallons because I'm not actually using my plumbing, I'm using a separate camp shower. It'd be pretty simple to just dump the hot water from the solar heater into the shower bucket in that case.

  • You seem to think that people who label products containing animal products as "plant-based" should get away with it. Is this not the case? Because if so, you are defending them, because you're essentially saying we should live in a "buyer beware" world and that the customer is to blame for being scammed.

Mealymouthed misleading advertising bullshit should be illegal, corporate advertising freaks who trick consumers with clever labeling tricks should get prison time.

  • Check out https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/

If I didn't live in the woods (and thus mostly in shade all day) I'd totally build a solar hot water heater. I've managed to reduce my showers to about 3 gallons, heating that much up with some black pipes on my roof or driveway would be extremely doable.

  • Again, if "plant-based" does not mean "made of plants" then it means nothing.

I check the labels of everything I buy, but if I see a product that says it is "plant based" and then look and see non-plant ingredients on the label then I want the people responsible to be punished. You seem to want them to be able to get away with weasel-y mealymouthed marketing bullshit. You're defending scammers and I don't understand why. They should face consequences imo
