  • When it's too humid for a fan to cool me off I have these small wearable ice packs that I strap inside of a collar around my neck, and wearing them in front of a fan gets me through the really hot days. Fan is still necessary since you'll sweat a ton when wearing one. The ice lasts about 30 minutes, so you'll need to constantly be swapping packs to recharge, but it's relatively cheap.

    @yogthos@lemmy.ml is doing you a favor by trying to prepare you for the new world that China is creating. We just want you to understand what is happening; this is hospice care for the US empire. The empire is dying no matter how hard you try to deny the changes to our material reality. If you don't want to listen, that's fine! You'll live in the new world whether you accept it or not.

  • Not really. Effectively, the Court is checked by their legitimacy. They need the public to believe that their rulings matter, because they don't have their own enforcement mechanisms. We saw this actually play out in Worcester v. Georgia. The Court can rule how it likes, but without public buy-in they'll be told to pound sand.

    That's why they're actually concerned about how they appear to the public and which way the political winds are blowing. If they go too far and do something truly radical, like repeal the Constitution, they'd be ignored. Or killed.

  • Class analysis has to be slightly stretched to account for how class interacts with the colonizer and the colonized. Like Fanon says: "The economic infrastructure is also a superstructure. The cause is effect: You are rich because you are white, you are white because you are rich." You get white workers who still side with bosses against their fellow indigenous or migrant or other minority workers, and they are rewarded for it with wages and benefits even if they don't ever actually change their class status. That's not just false consciousness, they materially benefit from their privileged caste in the colonial situation.

  • We are limited by our material conditions. In an ideal world, every Nazi would be reeducated and rehabilitated, no matter how long it takes. We don't have the capacity or the time for that. We have to stop them now, by any means necessary, before it's too late.
