Iran can keep the strait closed even if the US goes all out, all flattening Iran would do is ensure the strait stays closed long enough for the oil reserves to run out. The US has to know this. The question is if they're stupid enough to do it anyway.
I don't think they are? They basically do the same thing, they compress air which causes condensation. I think dehumidifiers are better at removing moisture from cool air, but that's it.
A dehumidifier and an AC remove about the same amount, actually. It's basically the same technology, it's just one also pumps the heat away and the other doesn't.
Right, but efficient operation of traffic has downstream effects on all of society. One idea I've had is if monitoring traffic allowed for the state to mandate that every work place had their quitting times staggered out, so, factory A closes at 5:25 and factory B closes at 5:35 and factory C closes at 5:45 etc etc. That way, there don't need to be traffic jams, because society is organized in a rational way according to everyone's needs.
It kind of is, but that doesn't make it bad? Like, traffic has a massive scale, and controlling it means controlling at least that aspect of society and all of the downstream societal effects. That's... good? The state should be controlling some aspects of society on a massive scale, because the state's scale is massive.
Toward the end of The Wretched of the Earth he describes "Case No. 4: A European policeman in a depressed state meets while under hospital treatment one of his victims, an Algerian patriot who is suffering from stupor."
The patient A has difficulties with silence, because he imagines the screams of his victims at all times of day and night - and because the silence of Algerian patriots was so difficult and inconsiderate because it forced him to inflict more severe tortures (electrocution, often) onto them to make them talk. Fanon also had to treat one of A's victims around the same time, who lives in constant terror that A will come for him and actually saw him at the same hospital. A's victim later attempted to commit suicide.
Fanon actually talks about this. He treated French torturers who had to seek treatment, it's not actually possible to dehumanize others without being dehumanized.
