Bit-breaker working in cybersecurity/IT. Only languages I know are English and Programming ones.

Sometimes I write things about technology.

If I told you the SHA256 for this sentence starts with 'c, 5, four, a, and a', would you believe me?

  • Welcome to the shitshow.

I mean, CONGRATS On leaving that shitshow. Welcome to the hive, happy to see more folks finding this space and contributing to make it better,

  • Interesting discussion and question, thanks!

I am a reformed catholic. Raised as and confirmed Catholic, but as I've gotten older and more rebellious I've seen nothing but problems with religion. That is, I am not nor ever been an atheist, but I don't believe in any man-made religion as truth. They're shams to take your money; and some do some good for others. I am spiritual and believe in something greater than all of us. Maybe not the puppetmaster, but I feel there is some underlying driving connection and cosmic force we cannot explain or ignore. Your God? My God? Who knows, I do not claim to. But I feel it there and I feel better for it.

  • Actions on site and web traffic/use, behavior to Beehaw indicate suspicious users for our purposes. TOR and VPN use does increase those metrics/probability, but is not the sole determining reason.

  • What phone?

  • Beehaw has not been under active attack, but we do have mitigations in place for suspicious users, based on activity which includes being on a VPN or TOR network.

  • Conservative policies generally emphasize empowerment of the individual to solve problems. https://www.studentnewsdaily.com/conservative-vs-liberal-beliefs/

That said, it's not a Broad stroke generalization that all Conservatives are alike, just as not all Liberals are alike. Don't paint the individual with the group, 100%.

  • Thanks for posting this, Penguincoder! I hope you’re doing as well as possible. I appreciate you and wish you all the best! 💖

Much appreciated 🙏 . Also, Meatwad, here :P

  • It's always the things you think will be done quickly, that take the longest... Tech Debt FTW.

  • Attack the problem, not the person. A forum works with discussion, not diatribe. It would also help others to respect your commentary better, if you use full words instead of abbreviations. Such as you and you're and not u or ur.

    How's your week going, Beeple?

    • Anything new and exciting you want to share with the group?
    • Same 'ol drudgery?
    • Are you channeling your inner Meatwad ?

Let us know how you're doing! We can commiserate or complain with you.

  • Fedora because it's stable and effective.

  • Things that involve your human safety, should always fail open. What a travesty.

  • I am not. Wish there where a better answer. I've died three times in as many years for different reasons. This next years outlook is dwindling mine.

But thanks for asking. Doing the best I can, which is admittily not stellar and not even "OK". I exist, inefficiently.

  • Absolutely horrible. Keeps getting worse. But hey some good news, at least I won't be alive when the US of A finally fucking implodes on itself due to recent events. 🤬 Bigots and fascists; and this is what I served for, to 'protect'?? Fuck ya'll.

  • PONG. I don't have and can't use safari, but willing to work with others that do have it, to run this down. @boolean@beehaw.org send me a PM and lets work through some of the troubleshooting,

  • Apparently the wrong link. Editted now, sorry. Was the youtube playlist link.

  • Congrats on the self improvement!

  • Probably commented the same before but; the horrors persist, yet so do I. Everything is different and difficult. I am tired of living in interesting times. I want boring back.

  • Some good, some more bad. But slowly regaining myself and my free time. Been too damn hectic.

    blog.frankmtaylor.com A Rant about Front-end Development

I am a front-end developer who is FED up about front-end development. If you write front-end, this isn't about you personally. It's about how your choices make me angry. Also this is about how my choices have made me angry. Also this is mostly just about choices, the technologies are incidental. Not...

    A Rant about Front-end Development

    Too good NOT to share.

My brothers and sisters in Christ I want you to know that I care about your souls enough to share these truths with you:

    • You don’t need JavaScript to make a web page.
    • You don’t need JavaScript to write styles.
    • You don’t need JavaScript to make an animation.
    • You don’t need JavaScript just to show content.

    Community Popularity

    Dude(ettes),

This community has dropped off fast in the now trending list on the sidebar. That is awesome. When I first started supporting Beehaw, it was a matter of minutes before the site crashed due to processing and load. Gone are the days of 3,4 or 10 posts in Beehaw Support about content issues, server instability and server errors. Here are the days of no support requested. We have improved the uptime and responsiveness of Beehaw for all users, in a short time. Extenstive work and efforts have been placed into not only keeping Beehaw running; but improving Beehaw.

Those efforts and support have paid off I think. I say this as a primary systems admin of Beeehaw:

    Thank you

To all monetary supports and lurkers, your contributions are immensely appreciated. We hope you continue to find value in our presence on the internet and in the Fediverse.

    Bots? OH MY

On Beehaw there are a few tldr bots from other instances. I present Beehaws own summarizing bot developed by yours truly. Based on feedback from moderators and community leaders, I don't just want to let this loose on the entire site. Might cause confusion and spam for a community instead of being useful. If you do like what that bot does, and are a moderator of a community on Beehaw that wants to use it; send a private messaged to AbstractifyBot stating Summarize articles on c/[communityname].

That's just one aspect, but I have a few more questions while I have your attention.

    • What type of bots if any do you want to see on Beehaw to help things/your community?
    • Which functions of the 'nice to have' should be built in and not reliant on a bot to do?
    • What do you need for your communities to thrive here?

Not sure where to put this in here or DIY. But, finished my TKL build and wanted to show off. I mean I didn't just finish it, but pretty recent. Took a bit longer than I expected and a bit tedious for a perfectionist, but over all not too bad. It works!

Through-hole PCB with FR4 plate and case. Pretty nice looking and quality components. I put MX browns on because I like the smooth feeling of them. Not typing on it now; just admiring! Need to let my soldering hand recuperate.

    New 'old' Beehaw interface

Do you hate the way Beehaw website looks? Do you long for the days of that other site with the old formatting??

Well Beeple; I present the old interface thanks to Mlmym! Give it a try if that's your thing - https://old.beehaw.org.

A note here though, that is an external project dealing with the Lemmy aspects in their own way. If you find an issue or bug on https://old.beehaw.org, please try the same on https://beehaw.org before crying foul. Please report any issues or bugs to the right place to get them fixed.

SQLedge - SQLite read replica of a Postgres primary DB

SQLedge uses Postgres logical replication to stream the changes in a source Postgres database to a SQLite database that can run on the edge. SQLedge serves reads from its local SQLite database, and forwards writes to the upstream Postgres server that it's replicating from.

This lets you run your apps on the edge, and have local, fast, and eventually consistent access to your data.

Should be much faster for reads than hitting the full PSQL DB, but lacks features like aggregation and triggers. Wonder if this could be incorporated into Lemmy for any benefit.

What's the correct method to attach 2x6s to concrete blocks?

Have a porch outside that is cracked and rotten, and the header boards are split and can't be drilled/screwed into. So I need to replace those. What's the correct way to attach 2x6 headers to concrete blocks, to remain secure and proper? This would specifically be for 2x6s flat against the concrete, not end to concrete.

    Spirituality @beehaw.org

Christian Deism - a religion based on nature and reasoning.

Great explanation of this belief system. A deist is a person who believes that God designed and created the world and governs it through natural laws that are inherent in everything**___** The main understanding is that life comes from God and we are to use it as God intends, as illustrated in Jesus’ parables.
