  • Every man I've ever lived with has been a slob. They say you should just stop doing chores and let your partner get upset when things don't get done - that only works if you have a partner who isn't perfectly content to live in a slimy dumpster. One thought I was a germaphobe because I once watched him drop chicken on the floor and throw it back into the pot of already cooked food and wasn't OK with it.

I live with my mom now and we have a similar comfort level when it comes to tidiness and sanitation. We keep things generally picked up and take care of the truly important things like dishes and toilets, but neither of us enjoys cleaning so we're both willing to put up with a lot of dustiness and unvacuumed carpets. We share work pretty evenly.

  • Know your body measurements, but also the measurements of your clothing. For example, I have a 47.5" waist. So I assumed that a pair of pants laid flat with a waist measuring 23-24" would fit. Not so. When I measure the waist of the pants that fit me best, it's 21".

If the store you want to try is pricy, maybe you can find some of their items secondhand on places like poshmark or thredup to start. You still can't return, but at least you're not spending as much to figure out their sizing.

  • You're doing great!

  • I sometimes like to know the general area someone's from (country or state), so I understand the context of their experience or point of view. It's not anything I would push if the person felt uncomfortable sharing. That sounds like a red flag.

  • I was doing physical therapy for back pain, and the therapist noted that I had pelvic floor disfunction. I needed to get approval from an obgyn for them to do an internal exam. I was new in town, so this was my first visit to the obgyn.

I'm there in a paper gown, sitting on the edge of one of those stupid beds, while doctor goes on an endless lecture about how the uterus works, most of which I already know, none of which is relevant to my visit. I interrupted: "I'm going to stop you there. Are we going to be doing an exam, or can we finish this conversation elsewhere, because my back hurts."

He looks surprised. "Oh. Maybe you do have back pain."

Thankfully, my most recent visit with him went well, and his explanations were relevant and welcome.

  • Other commenter's trying to rip you off. I'll do the search for you for only $25.

  • I was doing a deep search for a file on my laptop, and I found a bunch of poetry I had forgotten about from a college class ten years ago. Damn, I wrote good stuff back then. Brain fog has really taken its toll.

  • In case anyone wants cheap canvases, look for them at thrift stores. I just gesso over whatever's on them.

  • Eurovision! My family throws a party for it every year. Since it's held in Switzerland this year, we're doing Swiss food. We'll have games and prizes and drinks.

  • It's much more thriller than horror.

  • Are you anywhere near VA? I need yo to cook me some okra so I can find out what it's like not slimy.

  • I have shapely legs and a nice face. I appreciate the lightness of my body hair. I've got a nice strong grip; my brother always gets me to open jars.

  • Fun Fact: we are only just learning how connected the brain and Immune system are. We're not sure which causal direction the inflamation/depression connection runs.

  • A pet. If you're not up for living with one, find a shelter that accepts volunteers. They need people to walk/cuddle/play with the dogs and cats.

  • I have genetically high cholesterol that can't be controlled with diet. I've been on and off statins over the years, and am currently on one along with Zetia. I have never experienced ill effects from it. No one in my family has either.

  • Thank you. I'm just crying lightly here and there, which is healthy. We were friends when I was a teen, but I haven't seen him for several years now, and I wish I'd been able to. I don't expect any tension.
