Dota's had more or less the same map for the past 20 years and it's been fine. The genre has issues but it's definitely not the map variety.
The door is actually open and it leads to a small balcony, that's why it's so bright. And the painting is on the inside wall of the balcony.

Nope, even tho the game is french, the original is English and French is a dub. They even splurged for well known/good english voice actors. But french dub is also good, so you can go for it if you want. Try both for a few minutes and decide which one you want, I guess?
