unless it's specifically posted in a positivity-focused community
Mental health discussion doesn't have to be all positive, but telling someone they should accept abusers is completely wrong.
I've heard that librewolf struggles to keep up to date with important security updates iirc? That is pretty much the only thing holding me from using it permanently.
Seeing a lot of people recommend the same three forks, though. I'll have to try them out and see what i like best :D
I honestly have no clue, personally.
I know i have to jump ship, but my choices are either chromium, or a fork of firefox, that may be slow to catch up with security / may not last.
I've got my eyes on librewolf, floorp and zen.
I'm especially watching https://ladybird.org/. A completely independent browser. But the dev has gotten himself in hot water iirc, but anything to get away from google and mozilla, i guess. Also, it's not complete.
We'll see what the future has in stock for us.
Apparently I don't have the mods account it's just verified on the app
I'm the mod. If you want to see which mods do what, https://phtn.app/ shows it all iirc.

A post on !mentalhealth@lemmy.world of you telling someone they should accept their abusive parents. Seriously? And you think comparing yourself to their father is a good thing?
Seems like mods on certain comms just make up whatever placeholder reasoning when you don't break the rules. I thought you had to blame the victim to victim blame and my post didn't blame anyone for anything.
Really? You think you can go to a mental health community and tell victims to just accept their abusers? Read the room, man. I just inherited the community, too, so i'm not done actually revamping the rules.
I, and anybody else who had abusive parents would look at this and flat out say YDI.
See that bush behind the store? That's c/latin because i've been too fucking lazy to give it attention lol
Thanks for keeping the dream alive for me pugjesus xd
Sorry, blaze; this was already posted here 6 days ago https://lemm.ee/post/56245976
Hope you understand!
That's cool, i hope lemmy federates with it in the future :D
Fedipie.dbon1.com? We have the technology for it.
100%. Rimu, jollyroberts and andrew are all amazing people, providing both piefed and .social itself for free. They work very hard, and hell, the feeds PR was only created 4 days ago, and pushed today!
Piefed and its devs deserve way more :D
Piefed has feeds now!
Feeds are a combination of communities into one, like multireddit or mastodon tags.
Try it out!
My bad. I thought since they removed rimu's post and the community seems to think negatively of us (from what i've seen.)
I saw that part after i posted the comment then promptly deleted it. Though unfortunately some can still see it lol. My bad

Sorry. I only knew how hostile they are and that they removed rimu's post 👍
I'm very glad to see this!
I hope piefed (and mbin) too get more popular. Piefed has implemented feeds, and is going to get an API that is similar to lemmy, so we can use most lemmy apps/clients :DD
Correct, you can recreate codeberg 100%, down to the CI
Any reason why you don't like them? They're fine for me.
There's also gitlab CE and https://radicle.xyz/
This is something to be discussed in private. If you want, i'll arrange a room with you, I, and the person behind chad mctruth, and we can sort this out calmfully.
Codeberg and selfhosting forgejo is the way. They don't use AI BS for this shit to happen and is completely FOSS

> I've spent months working on this program. I've long thought that "how fast can you make a FizzBuzz" would be a really interesting question for learning about high-performance programming, and when I subsequently saw this question posted on CGCC, I pretty much had to try.
This is so beautiful 🥹

Warning over privacy of encrypted messages as Russia targets Signal Messenger
Russia-backed hacking groups have developed techniques to compromise encrypted messaging services, including Signal, WhatsApp and Telegram, placing journalists, politicians, and activists of interest to the Russian Intelligence service at potential risk.

A lot of people seem to be confused so to clear up: They haven't broken encryption. They are phishing using malicious QR codes.
Russia-backed hacking groups have developed techniques to compromise encrypted messaging services, including Signal, WhatsApp and Telegram, placing journalists, politicians and activists of interest to the Russian intelligence service at potential risk.
Google Threat Intelligence Group disclosed today that Russia-backed hackers had stepped up attacks on Signal Messenger accounts to access sensitive government and military communications relating to the war in Ukraine.
Analysts predict it is only a matter of time before Russia starts deploying hacking techniques against non-military Signal users and users of other encrypted messaging services, including WhatsApp and Telegram.
> That code is now part of this February 2025 DirectX Shader Compiler release as they further build-out the DXIL capabilities. Developers outside of Microsoft previously reverse-engineered the hashing algorithm while now it's officially open-source. This will help in situations like those compiling shaders for DirectX outside of Windows hosts or the selective Linux binaries Microsoft has provided in the past.

Community Revival - resurrecting dead communities
Heyo, i created a community a couple of days ago specifically dedicated to reviving dead (unmoderated and inactive) communities. I realized that a lot of great communities i like are actually unmoderated, and i obviously can't mod them all; so why not create an archive of all of them?
If you have a community that you like, but it is dead: you're more than welcome to post on here!

I accidentally forgot to boil the water while making tea.
I didn't want to waste it so i had to throat it down. It was not good. I felt sick after it but i think that's just placebo.
What is an encryption backdoor?
Talk of backdoors in encrypted services is once again doing the rounds after reports emerged that the U.K. government is seeking to force Apple to open up

What are some communities you miss on reddit?
Just curious. I miss mainly language stuff, some video game communities (like RoN, KCD) and some local communities like for Arabs or Saudis (tbf those were always cesspits but I miss talking to other Arabs on Lemmy)
I'll try to be the change I want to see. How about you?
