Can't remember where I found the song but I was probably given the recommendation because I love Ladytron. #IAMX is the solo project of Chris Corner from #SneakerPimps.
Been vibing to this album but feel free to send me recs to any of the newer stuff.

I'm deeply envious of how much postpunk there is in Latin America. I swear half my post-punk playlist is in Spanish.

I don't even know how to describe the genre. DJ guy occasionally sings plaintively over dark #Trip Hop and spooky beats. Eerie dreamy #electronic music with overlaps with #darkwave and #shoegaze. I loved the three previous albums so I am hyped for this drop. Music to listen to when your soul leaves your body.

The album is also called Cranekiss. I've known of this artist before but I played a different album on repeat, Dreaming in the Dark (2019), because that one's closer to darkwave. This is a gorgeous single and now I have go through her entire discography.
Apparently she's from #NewZealand but is now based in LA
@useless_modern_god Nope it's English, it's an Irish-Filipino production. Most of it is filmed in Ireland and there are some flashback scenes in the Philippines but they're subtitled.
I like the movie, it goes in really surprising places. I haven't seen another English-language horror movie covering global south labour exploitation so it deffo gets bonus points for that one.
They are workers
Deliberately caged
Amidst hardship and hunger, suffering and pain
Until one day, befell in tragedy
Making a living but instead dying in living
in this ablazed "box" while imprisoned and buried
They turned into ashes inside a factory that became a "Furnace"

This song was played in the ending credits of the #HorrorMovie #Nocebo. The entire album slaps and it's all about the experiences and suffering of workers and labourers. I'll post the translation in a bit since there's a word count limit on Mastodon.

They specialize in harsh soundscapes with a driving, hypnotic krautrock-like beat. I listen to a boatload of postpunk and man they really stand out.
@alternativenation Strike Whilst the Iron Is Hot, a song on the same album, has more of the jangly guitar sound that I associate with Johnny Marr.
Youtube: https://youtu.be/4C7l00SLO1g
The song is about being unable to forget a lover, how he looks for them at night, and wondering how long heโll have to wait until theyโre together again in the course of his difficult life.
I haven't heard much of this band but some songs seem to have an alternative 80s vibe, which explains why they're playing the same show as Flock of Seagulls in Manila.

Okay am I crazy or is the vocal style reminiscent of songs like This Charming Man or Everyday Is Like Sunday?
The title translates to Until When (Come Home Baby).
@decadentrebel Soft Kill has an extensive discography. I love a lot of their stuff but I have that issue where I can't name their damn songs despite them being my 4th most played artist on last.fm. One of the best current post-punk bands imho.

@ForgetReddit @mounderfod The album is incredible, the lyrics are godawful, the band is mid.
I liked a few of their other songs here and there but nothing can compare to Turn On the Bright Lights.

Good podcast episode with the hosts reading the lyrics aloud and laughing at it. Also goes into the history of the band.

I really enjoyed the A/X album. Also happily just learned that they have a new one ๐
@Varyk It's so good I swear. They don't have a lot of songs but it's all amazing. Enjoy!
@kvn https://youtu.be/Yu5fRSbi5L8 This is another good Joy Division channeling track. It's those vulnerable vocals man.
In Letter Form - Terror (Is a State of Mind) (2016). Post-punk like Joy Division.
In Letter Form - Terror (Is a State of Mind) (2016). Post-punk like Joy Division.
I only learned about this #postpunk band after their lead vocalist had already passed away ๐ข Frantic desperate Joy Division energy in this song while the other songs on the album remind me of early Echo & The Bunnymen. The whole album is gorgeous and highly recommended. Rest in peace Eric Miranda, you were gone too soon.
@psychicleaking I agree with @ZephyrXero , there's a lot of other more consistent contemporary post punk bands. I strongly recommend Soft Kill, Sextile, Agent Side Grinder, ACTORS. In Letter Form reminds me a lot of early Echo & The Bunnymen but their vocalist has passed away ๐ญ
