These 20 Games Deserve a Shot — They’re Way Better Than You Think

I believe the Netherlands and London have that. Tap in, tap out. Probably more cities have that. Definitely one of the things more things should have!
Public transport by trebuchet?
Stay the course for black sludge! It'll make us rich beyond our wildest dreams!
I'm betting 3 hairs on my ass that the German government is going to bail out VW, stay the course for polluting engines, and tank the economy for the next 20 years. (And of course blame "immigrants")

Did Russia fuck up Chile? It was the US that helped Augustos Pinochet overthrow a democratically elected government which happened to be socialist and had just made education and healthcare free for all in the country.
It wouldn't surprise me if the US had a hand (yet again) in fucking up Chile.

The country in Europe that taxes wages the most and has no digital vision whatsoever (exaggerated of course) gets to do the project. The country where people still don't see a need for fiber, protest against nuclear and wind energy (some even against solar), and little to no digital education. That's the country this is going to?
The largest share of the aid, €495 million, will go to GlobalFoundries to support its “SPRINT” project in Dresden. The US-based pure-play foundry plans to expand and adapt its existing site to add new 300mm wafer manufacturing capacity.
Lol, also in one of the most racist places in the country (declared Nazi emergency in 2019, exodus of skilled foreign workers from Eastern Germany 2024) for a USAian company.
Chip sovereignty is critical but this isn't the place to do it.
I have a few, but a world-wide, interconnected high-speed rail is probably my wettest dream. Imagine taking the a highspeed rail from Paris to Beijing across Europe then the Trans-Asian Railway. Or deciding to travel from Alaska all the way to Patagonia by train. How about a trip from Oslo to Cape Town? We have the technology to make that reality.
My wildest dream though would be having some kind of solution for connecting remote areas. Imagine living in a cabin in the woods and wanting to get to town. Right now, the most likely answer would be "I need a car", but imagine we invented something else? What would that be? A public hydrogen powered drone network for last-k transport maybe? Gondola lifts? Bike paths and on demand rail to every house? A slingshot system with a glider? I dunno, just anything but a car.
I'm still very doubtful of a hyperloop. But a Europe-wide highspeed railway network? For sure! We need that.
The Netherlands has that... mostly. It's glorious. But I agree, having that worldwide would be amazing!
What are your craziest transportation ideas and dreams?
Feasible or not, what has kept you up or had you go chew somebody's ear off?
Planes aren't "idiotic". They are marvels of engineering and very useful for long distance travel, especially across oceans or difficult terrain (ever had to cross a mountain over a serpentine path?). Conceptually, planes are way less problematic than cars. There is no "plane centric lifestyle", planes haven't forced us to build our neighbourhoods differently, aren't handed out to just about anybody, and aren't killing thousands of people daily.
The problem is their engines. They are loud, polluting, and inefficient. Add on that they are unfairly subsidised with little to no incentive to improve besides lowering the weight on a plane. Let's be clear though, planes pollute nowhere as much globally as cars. Planes were responsible for 2.5% of carbon emissions in 2020. Rice production alone is responsible for 1.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
The airline industry hasn't had to reinvent itself technologically since the 70s or so. But there is now work going into net-zero planes:
Though there is a decline in funding - probably due to the new right-wing administrations in the US and Europe.
That film is going to be a disaster. It looks like they used too much AI or CGI or whatever.
They are much laxer for USAians than they are for poorer third-world countries, I'll tell you that much! Don't kid yourself, the USAian passport still has a lot of strength. It opens doors to many places.
If you want to move, there are actually many options, it doesn't have to be Europe. Vietnam for example needs English teachers and they aren't exactly picky on how well you speak English. If you can speak another language, you already have one leg up compared to your mono-lingual compatriots e.g Spanish cat get you to many places.
Simply going "oh, it's hopeless, I can't move anyway" is the wrong attitude. If you have studied, you already belong to 30% of the population that has. Try applying abroad. If you haven't studied yet, get a loan, study (pick a study that has a future), leave the US and never return. There's no need to pay off the load if you leave because having debt isn't illegal and they aren't going to drag you back from another country to pay your debt.
What I'm saying is, there's options. If you're USAian, living in the USA, you live in one of the most prosperous country in the world and have quite a few advantages over say a farmer in Mongolia or an Iranian. If an Iranian can get out of Iran and become a citizen of a European country, so can you.
I'd be surprised if the fat fuck wasn' an abuser. That dude definitely let power get to his head and must've abused at least one person.
The USA isn't actually doing what they're saying
Yes they are!
I never said they weren't!
And having a unified Europe against the US isn't "division".
Sure, then why are they voting right-wingers into government?
If you are unable to see the USAian influence in Europe, sorry mate, but you must be blind.
SLAVA
And yet they will not vote for it.
Sorry, I don't watch basketball. All I knew was that he was famous basketball player and LeBron was the first name that came to mind. Now I have to look up who LeBron is.
Lebron James is popping up in Chinese videos shouting "What can I say?" - Is this a Chinese meme?
I don't speak Chinese so it's a little bit confusing to see this pop up on my feed in GrayJay. Was LeBron James some kind of idol in China?
Feminism in 60s was co-opted by the wealthy and powerful as a distraction
There is no debating that feminism was necessary back then. Socially and legally women were at a severe disadvantage and something had to be done. Of course it's a never-ending process as injustice will exist as long as humans exist, but the levels are very different nowadays in western countries compared to developing and exploited countries (no they aren't "developing" they are being held back, but that's a different topic).
At the same time, there was a lot of movement for social awareness and things like free love, queer acceptance, bodily autonomy, anti-racism movements, and a lot more were happening world-wide. France had massive left-wing protests and so did Germany. Many know of the movements in the US Black Panthers, MLK, Woodstock, Free Love, Flower Power, and turmoil that took place after Kennedy was shot in 1
How do I easily invest in green, European businesses?
I'll start by saying I don't trust any bank to give me a list of green investments. Mine has a "pay monthly and we will invest for you" but the list of companies it has are all from BlackRock and have a bunch of US companies, oil and gas giants pretending to have green goals, and techno-fascist companies like Tesla on the list because "they're going electric".
My time is limited and I'm not willing to spend hours every day scrutinising companies and initiatives to ensure they are green, sustainable, and socially aware. Following green news, there is news about whatever new battery is in whichever stage, a new company testing a carbo-fibre something improve whatever new thing will turn a turbine, and so on, but some of those companies either aren't public or so fresh it would be risky to invest.
How do I safely and lazily invest in green European businesses? I'm willing to pay for the service, but not a wild amount as I don't have a wild amount to invest either. Also, the return s

Thank you to the people providing a counterweight over on the Relooted forums
Context:
Relooted is a game in the making set in a fictional future where a team of Africans decide to get back the the artifacts that were stolen from their countries decades or centuries ago. The snowflakes of the right-wing gamers immediately took offense at this and started spamming their steam forums and (attempting to) review-bombing the demo.
What's this about
As the title says, thank you to the people active in the steam forums actively commenting and reporting the racists, bigots, and trolls. I'm sure the developer appreciates the support and waking up to seeing comments other than "hurrduur black people be stealing hehehehehe" comments.
Keep it up :)

How would a wealth tax affect real estate rentals?
Alright, Tax Wealth, Not Work (TWNW). Let's say the wealth tax got implemented at 2% on wealth over 10 million. I'm unclear on whether it would increase single home ownership and reduce the number of available rentals and thus make it even more difficult to find living space. Or would the tax revenues from it allow for the construction of more community housing?
Relooted - Game made by South Africans has been bombarded by right-wingers
Relooted - A crew. A job. A plan. In Relooted, toss those ingredients together, and you’ve got yourself a classic heist — but with a few twists. Your crew members are everyday citizens with pretty normal careers from different countries in Africa. The job is to liberate African artifacts from Weste...

Any game involving Africans has to be woke, according to them and the devs have been fighting a barrage of trolling and obvious racism since the game was put up on steam.

A call to action to spread the message of "tax wealth, not work".
In times of crisis people are desperate for stories to explain why their lives are getting worse. This is why storytelling is the most important – and most ignored – aspect of politics right now. The far right offer a simple story, repeated over and over: it's the immigrants. The Trumps and Farages of the world are surging on the back of this simple, effective storytelling. Can we come up with a better story?
