  • Create an account on mbin and it'll allow seeing most of the fediverse. It has a microblog view, a thread view and a combined view. It isn't picky about which services to connect to. I'm subscribed to peertube channels, people on pixelfed, and browse the threadiverse. It works well.

Lemmy can't see mastodon, mastodon seems to have trouble seeing lemmy but can see mbin and piefed, peertube just sees peertube (although comments on peertube can come from all over the fediverse), pixelfed just pixelfed, and so on.

Someone mentioned nomadic identities and federated identities and I would love either of those. But for now, I recommend mbin.

  • Fucking prude Christians...

  • What we need is ongoing, free education after school. For many it just stops. People should have gotten digital competency classes with every new wave of applications and then taught that to their children.

Schools also spectacularly fail at preparing people for life after school in any way digital. Most just indoctrinate you to use one single product, not how to use a computer in general. Kids exit school only knowing "Microslop Excel" not how spreadsheets work or what they're good for e.g balancing a budget, keeping track of expenses, weighing options, etc.

Education is also a very large and important part of the answer.

  • If you take Europe as a continent, it beats the USA handily. To make it comparable, the US athletes should be grouped by state. They'd do even worse.

  • Spoken like somebody who hasn't experience racism or bigotry.

  • Please explain how you come to the conclusion that operating a motorcycle is not as bad as a car.

  • I see. Alright, that's really early. I didn't find a place to contribute though. Please tell me the code is on Codeberg?

  • I wish it were an alternative:

    • it doesn't allow contributing
    • the search isn't front and center
    • it's not opendata nor opensource
  • It's funny until you meet women that complain about not getting hit on and do this.

  • Depends on the bike; a 125cc Honda Wave burns 1 gallon of gas per 160 miles, ~60 isn't uncommon for bigger bikes.

Depends on the car too. Motorcycles are worse for the environment than hybrid cars.

Yes, 2 wheeled vehicles are less safe than cars. We can make streets safer for everybody by lowering speed limits and reducing car usage.

Speed limits exist in Europe. Motorcyclists regularly ignore them.

That's not the bike, it's the muffler.

"He hit me!", "He didn't hit you, the arm hit you". A distinction without a difference.

This is the key benefit; by decreasing the area that needs to be dedicated to car RoW and parking, and the overall speed, you make a place more bicycle and pedestrian-friendly.

You can also get rid of all motorbikes and improve public transport. One motorcycle takes up the space of at least 2 bikes. And one bus can transport many more people in the same area than bikes ever could.

pretty much necessary for delivery drivers in fully pedestrianized areas

That's false. I invite you to visit Denmark (Copenhagen) or the Netherlands. Electrified bikes and cargo bikes can move a lot and can do so safely in areas with bike paths.

  • Unwillingness to accept the truth. Look in the mirror.

  • You're just biased. Motorcycles are just as bad for the environment as cars. Motorcycle accidents also result in death more often. They are often also louder than cars. The only upside they have is that they are easier to park.

To make motorcycles better, you have to go electric, which of course also drastically reduces possible travel distance on a single charge, and also introduces dependencies on electrical systems.

  • why would you go there??? this couple was asking for it

  • "Except you US big tech, we love you"

  • I think it's hurting them that it says "join the beta". To me, that means being put on a waitinglist and hoping to be picked. Better wording would've been "Join us (in beta)" or simply "join us". Only now did I click on it and found out that I had to download a raw apk. Which brings me to the next point: it's only on the iOS App Store. The majority of phone users on the planet (overwhelmingly so) are Android users. Why target the minority first? And why provide the majority with a link to a file that requires extra actions? It should be on the Google Store and on F-Droid first, then the App Store.

Anyway, I'm not the target audience, nor am I a programmer, so I'm grateful that somebody is putting in the work. Hopefully they can convince enough people to join and get off of closed-source platforms!
