Queer transfem into video games, cartoons, tech, science and just learning cool stuff in general.
I've heard of man-spreading, but this is ridiculous
I had read about the cancelled Superman game, Blue Steel, and its sad that it was never given a shot. Superman in city-destroying brawls with Braniac/Zod/Darkseid or Wonder Woman fighting mythical Greek beasts in a modern setting just seems like a game that should already exist.
With so many big name DC heroes, you'd think we'd be getting big budget games about them constantly, but outside of the Batman Arkham games we don't have much to show for it in recent history.
Marvels got a whole bunch of cool stuff in progress: Wolverine, Captain America, Black Panther games. On top of its successful Spider Man games, and they hit Marvel Rivals that just launched. But its crickets from DC.
A game asked me if I was a boy or girl, I chose girl and have since committed to the bit.
I think its even better as the new arise power gives us some personalities to follow instead just just our solo protagonist leveling solo.
If you don't know any other trans people, look into some queer local groups and go meet some. I was lucky that my therapist offered to connect me with another trans patient of theirs with a similar age and background, so I had someone to talk to and 7+ years later, we are still friends.
Make sure the other person you talk to is up for helping guiding you. It's a big ask, and not one everyone is mentally equipped to take on.
Any move away from opiods is a great step for medicine. Not just in that they are addictive, but also that they do not work on a sub-set of the population.
I use Heliboard myself and can second that recommend.
If they had 6 months, these examples would have given us way more things to point to on why Harris lost.
I work a full time job, but I don't have responsibilities like children, so I have way more free time to play games.
I'm currently playing, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Bug Fables, alongside some friends so we can talk about it together.
With my partner, I'm playing, I was a Teenage Exocolonist, discussing our choices and how our game diverged.
I'm also playing solo: Octopath Traveler 2 and Lies of P.
I'm basically hopping around the various games constantly. I'll play one chapter of Bug Fables, then hop over to Lies of P and clear an area and defeat the boss, then jump over to Octopath Traveler 2 to clear a chapter or two from some characters.
When it comes to "games I need to follow until the end or I forget everything and have to start over" that's when I really focus down the games.
Story heavy games like the Ace Attorney series or Danganronpa are best marathoned so you don't forget the small details that matter (at least until you clear the chaper). Likewise, puzzle heavy games, specially ones that build on your knowledge like The Witness, Tunic, Return of the Obra Dinn or Chants of Senaar are ones I also focus down so I don't forget vital info involved in even playing them.
It sounds like it will be more free-form, but going forward, I suppose we will see individual UFO 50 runs? Or maybe blocks of games that are accepted as the speedrunning standard. It's a weird one to manage for sure.
I'm curious to see how they are going to run UFO 50.
Another Crab's Treasure looks like a cute game about a crab trying to get his stolen shell back but is actually about how capitalism crushes everything in its infinite lust for power and how it cannot be reasoned with, only destroyed.

oh, I hate AI nonsense, that's not even on the list of features I'm interested in. I heard the Pixel 9 had much better battery life and didn't have overheating issues like the 8 did. Though the full pixel 9 is pricier than I am willing to spend at this time.
Is getting a Pixel 8 worth it, now?
I'm currently on the market for a new phone and I see stores selling a Pixel 8 for $500. It's on the higher end of what I want to pay, but I see it has extended support over the Pixel 7. I also see the Pixel 8a is $400, which is a nicer price for me, but since my plan is to use the phone long term, I figure the mainline model has sturdier build quality. There is also the upcoming Pixel 9a for $500, if I'm willing to wait and get the cheaper model branch but with the most modern features.
Can someone with experience using these phones help me pick something? I've never owned a pixel and looking online it seems like they each have their own issues to contend with. But I like the custom rom support I see for these phones that would give it a far extended lifetime over most other brands out there.
EDIT (Dec24): Thank you everyone for your opinions. I saw the support for the Pixel 7 and decided to buy one on swappa over the Pixel 8. And since support for the pixel 7 ends in less than 3 years, I'll probably install GrapheneOS right off the bat. I also did research on Sub-6 vs mmWave as I saw both models were offered and decided on Sub-6 as the more practical technology. Looking forward to this.
Unfortunately my Galaxy S10e is the US snapdragon version which has no way to unlock the bootloader, otherwise, I would have absolutely been on a custom ROM by now.
I've been looking for a replacement for my old S10e that's starting to slow down and is way out of date, its still on Android 12 and the last security update was over a year ago. And this seems like a good candidate for a replacement, though I will be sad to let my headphone jack go. I guess it was inevitable that I would have to switch to usb-c earphones.
Writing has never been Borderlands strong suit, and I don't expect it to get any better. The story will be bad, the dialogue will be bad, the jokes will be bad. They hit gold once with Borderlands 2, and never again. Will the gameplay be good? That's the real question.
