  • Does it have a mobile app? That's the main way I use Lemmy now.

  • Is that for Android or Apple?

  • Everyone in this thread is suggesting Mbin, so I might try that. Sounds like it's a fork of Kbin that actually solved a ton of its federation issues with Lemmy.

  • I wish I could do that. It sounds so risky, though lol. But all the power to you. That's amazing.

  • But I don't think this startup would help. The poor neighborhoods would still have less to invest. Privatizing taxes would just make the poorer neighborhoods worse and the richer neighborhoods nicer.

  • Don't look up too much the first time reading it. Just enjoy the weird ride. Feel free to page over to the relevant appendices every now and then, although they didn't make a ton of sense to me. When you're done, check them out. Apparently there's various secret messages and stuff back there that reveal more of the story but like I said, I still need to figure them out myself lol. Once I finished the book my mind was too twisted up trying to figure it out to look into them, but I'll come back... one day.

  • I need to read that book again. It was scary, but I finished it utterly confused. I clearly missed a ton from the appendices.

  • I love the sound of happy surprise in the first text. That's the same way I felt when I first used a credit card in my phone to pay for something lol. "Wow! It actually worked! The future is here!"

  • Oh then it definitely shouldn't be on lemmy.world. You should make a new one and put it on Lemmy.dbzer0.com like someone else said.

  • That's true. And personally I feel really bad that I was only aware of the history of this conflict very recently, too. But it's good that people are changing their minds and opening their eyes. We shouldn't shame them, but pat them on the backs for coming around. Keep in mind that the US especially has been inundated with a crazy amount of propaganda surrounding Israel for a long time. Lots of these latecomers are victims, not willingly ignorant. People have spent millions of dollars lobbying to keep it that way. (Not just Jewish people, it's not some conspiratorial Jewish cabal before the wrong type of poeple jump on agreeing with my comment lol. The military industrial complex is involved and lots of other actors interested in Middle Eastern affairs and Christian zealotry.)

  • But then it just comes off hypocritical and disingenuous if you selectively apply pressure. Then it just looks like you're trying to give a competitive edge to US evil social media and preventing youth from learning about the situation in Palestine.

  • People can say whatever they want, but it's actions that matter. And his actions have generally been supportive of Israel, including going around Congress to give them aid and weapons and vetoing UN resolutions for ceasefires.

  • What a strange comment. They're being genocided. I'm imagining someone in WW2 being like "well now you suddenly care about Jews when you find out the holocaust is happening", as if that was a bad thing.

  • Basically every war we did during the Cold War was about "sharing" the greatness of capitalism over communism, too. We're still pretending our embargo against Cuba is just for the same dumb reason.

  • OK that's pretty cool actually. I hope it works out without the pitfalls of Bitcoin and other crypto.
