  • yeah. I try to give him some grace as a scifi writer with him seeing the sexual revolution in the 60s based on the release of the pill and trying to imagine where the trajectory will end in 50, 100 years when you separate sex from reproduction. Still his take was kinda creepy and gross.

I think the worst example of him trying to write women was "I Will Fear No Evil". It is an interesting story as it attempts to reconcile sex and gender written from a cis man in the 1970s, but its pretty messed up. I appreciate that he seems to attempt to bring these ideas into mainstream consciousness, I just wonder if he could have done some more research.

  • I have not seen that, I will have to check it out.

I thought stranger in a strange land would make a great miniseries. I loved that book as a teen. I read it as an adult some years ago and it didn't hit the same way. Still, it could be adapted to an impactful story today. People would learn where grok came from and disassociate it with Musk's racist piece of trash (pisses me off).

  • I liked "I'm not ok with this", also "teenage bounty hunters"

They pushed both even when they had already canceled them. Both were compelling enough to warrant more episodes. Nope.

I'm more bitter about "the peripheral" tho.

  • It bugs me that there is this generic description of 'files' and I don't think I've heard discussions of what to expect. Funancial records? Client lists? Blackmail material?

We know big banks helped him by not reporting transactions they were legally required to. If the financial records aren't released it's bullshit. Always follow the money. Name and shame those who proffited from him.

  • Havn't bought one yet. Just eyeing my next project (realistically 2 projects from now). I narrowed down the Millennium cause I think I could get the most utility out of it. If I were to really do it how I would like Id need a pbx and thats a project Im definitely not willing to take on for some time.

  • I see a lot of (often well deserved) shit talk about centrists/middle ground. Honestly, it IS silly to talk about middle ground between reason and raw hate. I do, however, doubt myself if I look around and find myself spouting the most extreme ideas on a given topic. How isnt that scary to people? I dont want to be the fanatic. I was raised with talk about the middle path and the golden mean. Virtue in courage is found between recklessness and cowardice. I still subscribe to that notion, but absolutely recognize how one can lull themselves into false means based on the prevailing culture (Overton window). Still, I dont see how it is that hard to have some bedrock principals, and use those to anchor a true middle ground.

    shared google calendar

I am trying to slowly peel away from Google and my next task is Google Calendar. I currently have a couple shared calendars with other people and I'm not going to be able to break them free from Google quite yet. I have a next cloud server I was hoping to set up to be my primary source but I need to be able to interact with the shared calendars as well. Can I create a group calendar and have other persons, Google Calendar sync to it?

I'm not married to Next Cloud. It was just what I have available. I can do a different setup if that would work better.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA
