As one expert said on National Geographic's "Deep Sea Disaster" climate change crisis speculative episode, "Nature will squeeze us into pockets of instability and then kill us". Coastal cities will go underwater, storms will destroy other coastal cities, which means less land to inhabit. A catastrophic reduction of land/real estate and droughts killing crops will lead to skyrocketing tribalism - a perfect breeding ground for authoritarianism. An endgame scenario leading to a "Panem" is not out of the question.
Oh so this is why "Republican" is listed as a synonym for "Dystopia"...
Frankly if the aliens invade my plan is to give them Texas so they'll leave the rest of the world alone. Though... plot twist... I think they already did take Texas...
Prop 187 was what turned California around. We're about to see the same biting of the Republicans on their butts again with Prop 22.
urrrgh, this grits my teeth. Without food stamps people STARVE. This "it subsidizes grocery stores" is exactly one of the narratives used to take this subsidy away from poor people.
"But people will adapt" bullshit look at every country that doesn't have welfare... they're all third world/below third world countries. All of them.
Greetings from the average American family 20 minutes in your future:
Rents have gotten so expensive now that national bidding companies have arisen to address the crisis. Now renters can decide their own prices by bid-scoring on property and rental housing. Average monetary bid on housing in Austin is $5000 for a bachelor's pad but the money is only part of the bid-score. It also includes the usual credit rating and income reporting, but also your social media connections, the stability of your job (calculated by opaque market analysis firms), letters of recommendation from your employer, friends and family, and your overall "social credit" score (how many people give you 5-stars on every day interactions?).
This actually turned out to be an incredible democratization of housing! Landlords no longer control rents! We now have 1.2 million homeless in America but hey that's their faults for being poor, working jobs vulnerable to automation and offshoring, and especially the shut-ins, glad to see we're flushing them out and forcing them to socialize and be popular, or get thrown into the streets!
I love this country!
Chapter 1 from "Not Your Parents' Dystopia", coming to your reality soon!
So is this why people on the streets who AREN'T addicted unable to get back into housing?
Nice. No, not just nice, heroic.
There was an article a while back about how RTO brings profits to stores inside the office buildings - gift shops, restaurants, etc. Externally speaking: oil companies. There is a lot of vampirism involved in RTO that is obvious... and far more that's not.
Good. Hope all these office mandating companies go out of business. No more of people being forced into these mandatory COVID infection labs just to make a living.
How do you avoid catching COVID with such population densities?!
Lowest birth rate in the whole world, too. 0.84 births per woman.
Behold the corporate state.
There’s a little bit of that, of like “fuck these guys because I just kind of hate them now”, but it’s mostly just because they’re not convinced that climate change is real.
No, it's partially because some know climate change is real but they think they will be rich enough to weather the troubles and even thrive and profit from when the SHTF.
Here's how that works.
Oil exec says fsck climate change, meanwhile they're amassing billions in profits. The rubes below him echo "bah climate change is hogwash". Then climate change hits, the coastal cities go underwater, super storms hit, and doughts. The Oil exec meanwhile bought him some prime higher altitude land inland - he only needs to be 500 feet high to escape the rising seas - and he makes a castle out of it, then bring in useful servants, and wall up. The world falls into chaos and when it's over you call it Panem.
May the odds ever be in your favor.
The hope of libertarians is that they would do it out of a mutual interest in protecting others.
The larger the population you apply that ideal to, the less possible it is, due to tribalism. To get rid of tribalism you have to get rid of humans. Fail to get rid of tribalism and libertarianism isn't just dead on arrival, it's spontaneously aborted.
Kiss that damned zombie you coward. LIVE WITHOUT FEA---BRAAAAAAAINS
Funny, I was saying this for decades about zombie bites. I was such a downer pessimist. Now after COVID hit my family has rebranded me a realist.
The GOP would become the "Human Power Elite" trope in "They Live." Literally I swear to God that was a metaphor for Tim Scott and Herschel Walker. For that matter MTG and Boebert, too.

I know this was posted eons ago but this needs to be said. The most HONEST way to deal with Red Pill rhetoric is to verbally Aikido them.
First, admit the truth - SOME women are exactly like the nightmares they conjure up. I mean, Miriam Nakamoto DID dump her boyfriend specifically BECAUSE he failed to look masculine enough while he was losing a MMA match. There are women like that in the world. Evidence you bring up isn't going to negate that, and it is fear of these women that DRIVES Red Pill. When you say that's not a thing, you're giving them false information. You're gaslighting at that point, and they're going to see that and retreat back to their extremist ideology.
So the SECOND part is, go with what you know and we all know: women ain't all like that. But there's also the missing link here: Red Pill people are that way because they failed to properly pick the women they date, so they just keep running into these bad women. The problem you must address is that they're all about dating the best looking women rather than the nicest women, and they are the CLASSIC example of men who fall for "crazy hot" women. Sound familiar? Yeah because it's the counterpart for they say women fall for Chads/jerks. So the answer to the real problems that Red Pill brings up is not their sociopathic Dark Triad tactics, it's properly vetting your partners - looking for moral character and actual compatibility rather than just the best looking women. They need to be specifically told that if a man can't be attracted to a woman who's not 18-19 years old, big breasts and hourglass figure (the female counterpart to 6 feet, 6 figures and 6 inches) then that man needs to rethink his life rather than turn to the Redpill.
This is the whole answer that they need.
