‘The tyranny of apps’: those without smartphones are unfairly penalised, say campaigners
  • I am still using a flip phone. My new goal is to make it to 2027 marking two decades of rejecting the smartphone era. Each time I consider compromising something gets even more awful about smartphones and I double down on saying no.

  • UnitedHealth hired a defamation law firm to go after social media posts criticizing the company
  • They make profit off of being a useless barrier that prevents customers from accessing money they've contributed to use towards their own healthcare. They do nothing of any real value. Their constant profit seeking kills people. Every single administrator in their company is killing people.

Luckily, they won't come after me because everything I said was true.

  • Billionaire Musk bought control of US government and conspiracy theorists sure are quiet | Opinion
  • Alex Jones use to complain about transhumanists but now that they guy who actually wants to put computer chips in your brain has control of the federal government his top concern is... (literally looking a infowars right now)... oh god just constantly glazing trump. Also, zelensky is a warmonger who wants nukes.

  • This is more evidence for what I call "the meta conspiracy." I think conspiracy thinking has been actively promoted by the media and government in order to distract from actual government conspiracies. It both keeps people distracted with "UAPs" and "Adrenochrome" while also making any serious discussion of oligarchy, censorship, and oppression look ridiculous by association with crackpots.

  • Congress puts hold on Trump’s $1 billion arms sale to Israel
  • That is unfair to claim they don't give a shit about genocide. Most of our representatives care deeply and are doing everything within the powers of the legislative branch...

...to support genocide. They fucking love it!

  • B.C. premier announces countermeasures against U.S. tariffs, including ban on 'red-state' liquor
  • I'm glad Mexico and Canada are a united front on this, but I wish other potential targets would join in to hit the US economy hard and fast. The US can bully one or two countries at a time and probably has the economic momentum to come out on top. So this month it's Canada and Mexico but next month it'll be Denmark or Panama. But, if the EU, China, Mexico, Panama, Canada all implemented targeted tariffs within a week, the US would be forced to back down.

Wherever you are if you're a consumer outside of the US, I'd say give the US the BDS treatment right now.

  • Elon Musk rips those saying he gave Nazi salute: 'Need better dirty tricks'
  • Don't misrepresent my claim. It's not about the angle. There is a video of Elon Musk giving a obvious Nazi salute. No such video exists for the obama, harris, or clinton.

How sad, lying to defend a fascist billionaire.

  • Federated Dating App?

I was trying to explain federated websites to a friend and she asked if there is a federated dating app. She recently went through a break up and the apps are dreadful as I'm sure many of you know.

It'd be hard to launch a dating system on the fediverse because it the type of service that relies heavily on network effects. People want to be on the dating app with the most people. However, I think there is an opportunity because the mainstream apps are so notoriously awful, monetized, and enshitified.

It could be a community within an existing network or it could be its own website. I don't know, I'm just putting the idea out there.
