  • Not speaking up or pushing against policies and such that target specific groups of people because that's the way we've always done it makes you a bastard still. We all know there's probably one or two good cops per department/precinct that truly wish and do help people when they can. But they're silenced for the sake of their job speaking out against the mistreatments and policies.

  • Are there some fundamental differences between Dems and GQP? Sure, some, but as a person who has taken an outside view of politics through expanding my political knowledge and understanding, when it comes down to it they only have surface level differences. When Madami was running for Mayor of New York the Democrat establishment threw every nasty thing they could to STOP him. Get this straight, they would have rather a MAGA win than an avowed Democratic Socialist. THAT tells me what I really need to know about the majority of the Democrats in the party.

  • I see it as a two part problem. One, the current party setup one party ratchets us towards fascism, the other obstructs attempts to go back for "bi-partianship." Secondly, I hear most swing voters consider themselves moderates and from experience along with other's inspection of them, they're only concerned about order until it affects them. In thusly they're essentially just a brand of conservatism. Sounds a lot like the typical liberal.

  • It's part of a larger issue of science and research being funded and backed by big companies that benefit from it not saying their product as bad. There are defunct research articles that state smoking is healthy for you from long ago. A lot of those researchers and doctors were later found to have gotten kick backs from companies that benefited from the positive research. This is just a modern example of money meddling in research for their benefit despite knowing the opposite.

  • I actually looked into migrating a bit under Bush and they were more lax then. It was at least a year waiting list, you often had to have a marketable skill of some sort in demand in the country or enough money to basically never work again there. You had to have a clean record, pay several thousand for paperwork and lawyers, wait for approval, some wanted you to try and find employment before hand. It's probably much stricter no as I doubt I could immigrate to Canada from the USA. They're looking primarily for healthcare workers now and a lot of places because of their aging populations and lower birth rates. It's nuts.

  • You can blame the USA government for setting standards for light bulbs that planned obsolescence became a thing. They recommended to make light bulbs with filament that burns after a certain time of use to prompt more purchases of light bulbs. And that's where everyone else got the brilliant idea to make things not last as long. As well people didn't have the funds to buy new appliances all the time, they were still a relative luxury so if you made something that broke in a year and cost $300 back then you might have a mob with shotguns at your door.

  • I don't want any sort of device or appliance in my home that requires an internet connection that doesn't get a long time of security updates. My old printer died and they're so bad now I just don't have one. I'm going back to a dumb flip phone because this one's battery s dying. I use everything I can without spending money because I've never had a lot to spend to try and maintain my privacy. I keep spam email for the random site that wants you to enter one. The IoT is cancerous, it creates huge security holes because these appliance manufacturers don't care about security one iota. I have worked in IT for 15 years professionally with over that personal experience. I hate what the internet has become, I want something more akin to the 2000s back or at least the scrubbing of corporate mandates cut out. It's actually more dangerous to be on it because of advertisements. I would still have internet and gaming PCs regardless, but I want tech that's basic and functional.

  • I called a terrible IT person for suggesting not connecting smart TVs to the network as a simple means of by passing the issue with their updates and invasion of privacy. I think it'd be easier to do that and hook up an old computer for streaming from.

  • Thank you! Far too many people fail to realize these people when MAGA is gone will still be reprehensible Republicans. They supported and worked for W Bush after all. They're not our friends and I'd just be as happy to see both put into a pit with one spork. Then whoever survives gets eaten by lions.

  • The current political climate is galvanizing and honestly I don't see it as a problem. We cannot survive as a society much less species with how things are now. Some people are only concerned with how they're viewed, so they lie about what they believe in order to look not terrible. Truthfully, nuance is dead, and playing both sides means the one that takes away will always win.

  • I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice. - Martin Luther King Jr.

Most centrists I have interacted with have the same thought, I don't care as long as I'm not affected by it. As long as the sense of order is maintained they will let babies starve, houses burn, and deforest our planet to maintain that stability. So you must excuse those of us on the left who have interacted with people more conservative to us for so long. We're tired of the bullshit and we're not going to let you live it down anymore. I have heard people talk about how centrists/moderates, whatever term you use to describe them, are the swing voters. From my personal experience in the USA with the moderate, the moderate fucking sucks.

If the moderate is who truly votes in presidents then they have failed us multiple times now with Trump. Thoroughly, absolutely. I don't know how you can live a life seeing the horrors perpetuated for money and power to still think our system okay. If you're not swayed by the plight of the fact we can feed everyone on the Earth, we just cannot satisfy the gluttony of the wealthy to do so. Of maintaining order while a group of people who had no choice in their birth are subjugated, beaten, rounded up and jailed just for existing, and lynched for existing. If you look at everything wrong in this world and aren't galvanized away from moderation and right wing politics, then you're lost.
