MAGA loves MTG. She's positioning herself to take over after Trump dies. She basically needs to prepare ammunition to attack other contenders with.
She could always go all out on a wedge issue: Release the Epstein files.
To be fair, she has kept on it, although just a bit quieter the last couple of weeks.
She is one of the three Republicans who have signed the discharge petition to force a vote on bill to release the Epstein files. (Bobert is another one, go figure.)
She did exactly that.

What timeline are we living in where MTG is actually starting to talk sensibly about some of the bull-puckey that Trump is pulling?
Don't get me wrong - she still is not a good person, in fact she is downright despicable on many levels. But crap, she's actually talking against Trump on two issues now.
But, honestly, I doubt her sincerity on the tariffs issue. It's most likely that she's concerned that the businesses that have been stuffing her pockets for years won't stuff her pockets anymore.
I think that unlike some others in the maga leadership, she was a true believer. She believed in all the most dubious deep state conspiracy theories. She thought this movement was about purging deep state corruption, and replacing it with some more meritocratic system. A big old dose of racism in there but with her rationalizing it with convenient conspiracy theories.
Now she's faced with more blatant objective evidence of conspiracies. So she gets turned a bit by the betrayal.
Over a long enough time span, I think MTG is doomed to always, eventually turn against whomever is ostensibly "in charge". She'll go for conspiracy theories and of course the people in charge are to blame.
More than two - Israel, Epstein files, ai regulation, healthcare and influencer transparency before this.
She’s pivoting. The writing is on the wall for trump. She wants to be speaker of the house and run for potus in 28.
She knows two things well: 1: the Trump base and 2: that Trump ain't lasting much longer.

She is likely going to maneuver into Speakership. She knows Trump isn't lasting and this version of Greene she's putting out will demolish Vance.

I’m old enough to know that, when your enemy suddenly seems to be on your side, it is extraordinarily rarely out of any sense of altruism. It is almost always motivated by some hidden (or oblique) self interest.
Now, as others have said here, I acknowledge that it’s completely possible that Marjorie Taylor Greene has performed enough self in analytical calculus that she no longer believes it is worth pursuing Donald Trump’s agenda when it conflicts with her own. However, like the other comments here, I don’t believe it is for any other reason than complete and utter self interest. I’m still not convinced that she is capable of feeling empathy for other people.

It’s crazy to me how a majority of congress cedes their power to the president. I get why, that way they don’t have to take responsibility but I put more responsibility for giving up their power. I know there is more to it but basically the office of President and the Supreme Court exist because of Acts of Congress. I know we are supposed to have checks on governmental powers between the three “co equal” branches but congress has gridlocked itself into towering the president so what ever they want.
I keep reading articles that claim that “behind the scenes even Republincan Congress members have problems with what Trump is doing”. If that’s the case, I wish more had the guts to say it rather than toeing the party line.

I think she was a true believer who finally woke up to the fact that Trump and his lackeys are doing everything they can to prevent disclosure of the Epstein files. And that was like her main issue.
I’ve said this a few time on here, but I’m originally from spitting distance from her district, and based on my experience with so many other folks just like her; protecting children, specifically from conspiratorial trafficking and SA, is her number 1 priority, she’s usually really fucking bad at identifying ways to productively do so because she’s very poorly educated and indoctrinated, but if she has 100% confirmation Trump raped a child, which isn’t unlikely, she would almost certainly turn on him like it seems she has.

I think part of it is that she's like every Confederate ever, on nearly every issue. It's a trope for a reason - unless it affects them or someone very close to them, they don't give a fuck. So one of their kids gets pregnant while a teen, or one of their kids comes out, etc....when it comes to the health insurance, it's because her kids are hitting the 26 years mark.
If she can see the other stuff, that's just icing on the cake, and I'll take it. I mean the tariffs are probably Taco manipulating the market. I think she's simply a true believer, and all the other MAGA politicians are grifters; I think she has closer genuine beliefs to what most civilian MAGAs believe than the others within the government.
I don't want her in power, but I'd take her over the grifters.
Her and RFK Jr I think are the true believers with respect to their stances compared to the broader sea of exploitative grifters.
