In other words, she was doing the kind of thing they do to random people all day long. Knowing how cops feel, it was probably an ordinary traffic jam.
They just let her go? They thought she was such a threat that she needed to die, then just let her go? Doesn't sound like what a cop would do.

Chicago police records shared with the Sun-Times show that a Border Patrol agent had called for assistance, reporting that roughly 30 agents had been “surrounded by a large crowd of people.” But police officials weren’t sent to help, the records show.
A police spokesperson said officers ultimately responded to a call of a person shot in the 3900 block of South Kedzie Avenue “to document the incident” and “maintain safety and traffic control for all living and working in the area.”
“We’re here so that you can protest,” Chicago Police Deputy Chief Gabriella Shemash told protesters.
Chicago PD is staying out of it, it would seem.
I love how they called for help, and the cops ignored them. But when there was a report of a nearby victim of an ICE shooting, they showed up for that, to "document" it.
To their credit, the Chicago police force is not piling on with ICE.
I'm waiting for the moment when the Chicago Police fire on ICE agents in defense of Chicago citizens. Or at least start arresting ICE agents for illegal activity.

Since when do cops shoot someone but not arrest them? Given the level of basic humanity they have been showing I'd guess maybe they were hoping she'd bleed out and they'd have some plausible deniability for not offering any life saving care, but seriously this just reads like a sloppy stupid shit show of an event.

I don't care if they were being boxed in. If there were people in those vehicles being kidnapped, it seems perfectly reasonable to use non-violent means to prevent the kidnappers from escaping.

The videos I've seen show one car acting aggressively toward ice vehicles. The boxing in they're claiming is literally just the traffic. Plus they shot her but released her? The fuck is that about?

And I am sure our education system shares some blame. The ones I remember who became cops were always looked down on. Some are just born to want power over others. The rest are made by our system. chicago cops have a degree requirment but unfortunately it can be waived with enough military or police experience. in other words someone can become a cop in podunk for a few years and then transfer into chicago or just do a military tour or two.

I agree, probably a traffic jam, someone entered an intersection and could not go all the way through because of traffic, so that "boxed" them in. That person was probably a conservative that wanted to show off thier gun to ICE which they considered buddies. Thier buddies shot at them.
