'America is not happy': ABC under fire for pulling Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The ABC has received hundreds of complaints about US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! being pulled off air and threats to boycott sponsors ... but that's the problem when two broadcasters from different countries share a name!

In short:
The American Broadcasting Company has axed Jimmy Kimmel Live! for comments the host made referencing the murder of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has received hundreds of complaints intended for America's ABC about the show being cancelled.
The vast majority of complaints sent to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation contained expressions of dismay, with many citing concerns about free speech and the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

We should start writing basic political education into Bluey, pitched at the level of 5 year olds, and start pushing it into the US via Disney+ so their kids, and perhaps some of their parents have the tools they need to understand the world around them. Because sure as shit they aren't getting it from their own media and education system.
- I've got a kid on the way and I'm going to have to start learning what all these programs are. All I can remember is Thomas the Tank Engine and Magic School Bus. I'm guessing they're not on anymore.

  Shaun the Sheep is an excellent one for the kids, Bluey is as well.
  Paddington bear is interesting, in that its a nice show for the kids to watch, but i notice its very British upper middle class with it's approach.
  
  Worse than not on, they remake shows with cgi and different voice actors.
  Watching tv with kids is great. The first time I heard my oldest laugh was watching Shaun the Sheep with him. The last one we had moved into the time when everyone had their own idiot screens and it wasn't the same which I regret. I didn't know Bluey existed until she kept nagging me to play games. Bandit is a tough act to follow.
  I can imagine Bluey and Bingo going out one Saturday with Chilli and Bandit and they arrive at their school slightly confused because it is the weekend. And there are lots of people there going into a hall. They find some friends and play with them. Bluey wants to see what the adults are doing so goes in with Bandit and watches him give his name to be checked on the electoral roll then he puts some numbers in boxes. She grabs a free pencil which she thinks is awesome. They get some sausages and all agree it was a great day out.
  Then the American kids watch and ask their parents why they never go and vote like Bandit and Chilli. And their parents say they couldn't be bothered and it doesn't make a difference.
  
  Daniel Tiger is another good one. It's pretty slow with very easy to follow lessons in each episode.

- To be fair, America wasn't really happy before this whole Kimmel kerfuffle (which is barely a blip on the radar at this point). And I'm not up-to-date on the emotional socio-cultural barometer of Australia. Anyone know how Australia's feeling atm?
  
  Well right now the barometer is running about 85 percent glad of our Westminster-style democracy, 10 percent secondhand embarrassment and alarm about the state of the US, and then of course there's the omnipresent 5 percent who think that everything the US has done and is currently doing should be slavishly copied here.
  That last 5 percent can generally defined as the opinions of the proportion of the population that, kindly speaking, have a few kangaroos loose in the ol' top paddock.
  
  Feeling about what particularly?
  In terms of large cultural events, we had some of the largest-ever protests in this country at the start of August, in support of Australian recognition of the Palestinian genocide. Followed up by some much, much smaller, nationalist, racist right-wing protests that were hijacked by neo-nazis at the end of August. Our Prime Minister is currently in the US for the UN general assembly, where he plans on recognising Palestinian statehood.
  In saying that about the right-wing in this country, at our federal election earlier this year the main centre-right party completely collapsed under a landslide by the centre-left. Our Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, is pretty milquetoast in my opinion. But he at least seems steadfast in not allowing Trump to bully us into submission, so far anyway.
  
  before kimmel, was colbert cancellation, so people were already incensed , but the MSMs quickly buried the story and we heard almost nothing from colbert issue for like a month.

- A strongly worded letter to the wrong media outlet, in the wrong country is sure to do the trick. Though if the education system in the US was even halfway functional Trump wouldn’t be president. Almost as if it’s by design.
  
  Conservatism can't survive once a highly educated populace reaches a certain threshold of average intelligence. They knew that, and they took it personally.

Ah this reminds me of a right wing demonstration in Turkey infront of the Dutch Embassy because of something bad Mark Holland had said about Turkey.

Yeah, my beloved shitty football team also tried to have a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk, which wasn’t so silent since the entire stadium booed for the 2.5 seconds they tried to make that happen.
My countrymen are typically morons about all of this, so my apologies are extended when they can’t differentiate between the American and Australian Broadcast companies.
