  • I'm armed and practiced as well as I know how. My eyes are open. You guys?

Couple of weeks ago the pigs were at my black friend's house. Well WTF? I concealed my shitty 9 and kept walking out to the end of the driveway, chilling on the porch, watching. Not an "open carry" state or a rifle/shotgun would have been in public view.

Turns out the cops treated him fairly. He had let a cousin he didn't really know stay for a week, bad shit happened, no problem. But none the less, random people pulled up, no uniforms, no cop cars, nada, and went to question him and search his house. I was on a hair-trigger, texting him and his gf, waiting for some bullshit, waiting on handcuffs. I was ready to go weapon drawn, "Who exactly the fuck are you?!"

And no, I'm not macho. I was scared shitless at what I might have to do, vibrating with fear. But after what all goes down in this country, nah, I'm ready to fight back, not matter what that may mean for my personal health. (BTW, if you're of a similar mindset, it really helps to run, jump, whatever, kick your own ass to simulate the adrenaline, then shoot targets. You won't be shooting pieces of paper on a static range.)

But I wasn't the only one armed and watchful. We neighbors all had laughs and drinks when it was over, but we were watching and armed. Nice to know I wasn't the only one. Looking back, gods, what a relief I wasn't totally alone.
