  • Moments after unloading a patient from my ambulance, a jeep slammed into the rear end. It was blamed on "solar glare".

My partner, myself, and our patient probably would've been killed.

  • Found a nice apartment for a fair price in one of the best parts of town two years ago. Two other persons were interested. One didn't show up, the other never contacted the landlord after the viewing.

Usually people have to apply for dozens of apartments in my city until they are lucky, this was the second one I applied to.

  • I was hired by someone, but when I showed up for my “first day”, they denied ever offering me the position. Of course, I was pissed, but I consider this “luck” because I’m sure that working for someone who pulls shit like that would have been awful.

  • Lots of times. I had a police officer draw a gun on me and I didn't get shot so that's a big one. I once won a roomba in a company raffle. In a D&D campaign my character got reincarnated and I got the 1/100 roll to be the same species as I started. Oh, and here's an astronomical one, I met my fiancée through a random hookup post on the other site. We talked all night but their medication at the time gave them memory issues and they forgot me the next day. Being patient and recapping our interaction from the night before may have been the most momentous decision of my life. All predicated on the luck of seeing the post at the right time and actually getting a reply on a hookup post DM

  • In 2017 my mom and I took a week long trip to Iceland. It was amazing, 10/10, will go again.

However, we went on this hike up into the mountains to find this hot spring river. About halfway there I see this outcropping from the trail that overlooks the gully below. I hand my mom my phone and tell her I'm going to walk out there and to snap a picture of me. So I head out there and its cool. Not narrow or seemingly dangerous in anyway.

As I'm standing out there, a wind kicks up out of nowhere. Picks me up off the trail, feet and all. Like, I was literally weightless. It was just for a few seconds, only a few cm off the ground, but I knew it would carry me over the edge and into the gully below, and I couldn't do anything.

Instead, it set me back on my feet and was gone as soon as it came. I walked back to my mom and thanked her and said nothing about what just happened, I didn't want to scare her. But I stuck to the main trail after that.

I can't really explain how unnerving it is to be weightless like that on earth, where gravity is king. I became immediately helpless. If that wind had lasted longer, I could have easily been flung over the edge without being able to do anything about it.

  • With my now Partner. I almost scrolled past them online. And almost didnt massage them.

Now i saved them from homelessness and starvation. After i took tjem in and for the first time in their life got good nutritional food, they got into puberty and growthspurt at age 19 and 20.
