Where would be a good place to share stories I write.
Like the title says, want to share my writing and also promote books that me and my wife have written. Where good place to gain a wide audience?

Probably depends on what kind of books you're writing. A lot of people who write web serials start at Royal Road for example.
My one published book is a sci fi novel. My wife writes fantasy, and non of it is web based. Except for the new thing I am trying out.
There's an instance called literature.cafe that has a lot of writing related communities. I see writing prompts somewhat often while browsing all. It's not the largest of instances, but it might be a good place to start

Just saw that there’s !writing@hexbear.net too, which has the largest number of subscribers. But Lemmy.world has that instance blocked, so you would need a different account to access it
Wattpad, Smashwords, and AO3 come to mind for online writing/publishing platforms.
Wordpress makes it easy to publish without having to learn a lot of tech skills.
