Utter madlad

All seems funny as long as it works right, but it contains a lithium battery and would still get his ass fired in a heartbeat. Oil refineries don't fuck around.
- Friend had a fake cigarette some 25+ years ago and it had orange crumbled foil at the end which looked like it's glowing under light. No batteries.
  
  Yeah, we had one as a prop in the 90s that had orange foil inside and a mesh in front, so when it moved around the fire looked alive.
  And you'd load it with flour and blow through it to make a pretty convincing puff of smoke.
  
  Okay. I once had a real e-vape that looks like a real cigarette. Given that the post appears to be something of a product review, I'm mostly inclined to think it's a vape.
- It might not, I remember having imitation "stage" cigarettes a while ago and they just had powder inside a tube and still looked semi believable from more than a few feet away
  
  I know the policies that Chevron has. You cannot enter the premises with even so much as a phone. Lithium batteries can and do explode. Vape cigarettes are no exception.
  If someone wants to consume nicotine on the premises, they have to use chewing tobacco or dip.
  No exceptions, period.

  They make tools specifically for that called intrinsically safe tools that are certified for use in explosive environments
  
  Ah, I should also add, that oil companies use air powered tools, not electric tools.

And this is why the rule says "no fire, cigarette, lighters, etc etc or things resembling them".

- Some people just want to watch the world burn, and those people probably shouldn't work at oil refineries .

  Refineries are generally built on land. And the petrochemical industry does not fuck around with direct safety (indirect, not so much)
