  1 ounce coffee liqueur

It's not exactly food but drinking a dr. Pepper while smoking weed leaves an after taste in my mouth that is exactly like a fig newton.

I tried pickles on a grilled cheese sandwich last week. It was good.

- Also try ketchup and mustard. I tried this after watching a contestant on Taskmaster New Zealand utterly fail to ruin a grilled cheese, to the point where the "judge" said it was one of the best grilled cheeses he'd had.

  yeah, ketchup, pickles, and (most?) mustards have an acidic component that works really well in contrast to fatty things like cheese.

- I love PB and (sweet) onion sandwiches, but I like them best on a plain bagel. I mostly eat them when the walla walla onions are in season.

As a kid I made a PB, banana, mayo, and potato chip sandwich pretty often. I fucking loved it. As an adult I'd never eat that, but occasionally I crave it.
- Hold the mayo, and swap the potato chips for granola, and I can chop firewood all day long on one or two of those.

- We put chilli jam on our cheese & crackers, especially good combo is: cracker+cheese+slice cabanossi/salami/etc+slice of gerkin+chilli jam dollop.

Not mine but my dads: His favorite snack is cold hot dogs dipped in peanut butter. I was 10 before I convinced him to stop dipping in the communal jar of PB.
I don't like it but its also not as bad as you'd think.

Cottage cheese, apple sauce and pickled red cabbage. Or sub out the cabbage for pickled beets.
I have my reasons.
- Cottage cheese and apple butter is a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch (I believe) combination. It works really well well together. Anyway the more intense flavor of the apple butter over sauce, probably does the same as your pickled whatever

Unsweetened cold brew coffee, fresh orange juice, and sparkling mineral water. It sounds most foul but tastes so good, sparkling smokey orange.

  About 1:1:2, coffee, juice, sparkling water. I really like it a lot. Has to be fresh orange juice.
- Some fast food place, I don't remember which, used to serve orange juice mixed with hot & bitter spices. That was really good.

Doritos and chocolate milk.
Don't ask me why or what it reminds me of, but the nostalgia portion of my brain goes haywire with that combo (maybe a good memory that's locked away with some bad ones? I dunno).

- I’ll have to try that sometime, but Mac and cheese goes great with each type of hot sauce I’ve tried so far
- Gochujang is my new favorite hot sauce, I've been putting it on everything. I've also made Gochujang caramel sugar cookies, which are fricken amazing.

Liverwurst and pickles on cinnamon raisin bread. The salt and savory work with the sweet bread IMO. Gotta use the good liverwurst though. It's so goddamn hard to find these days. Kahn's.

  Im not sure why, but I think the buttery taste makes the citrus in the oj incredibly sharp. This might just be a "me" thing. I do it religiously even if it gives me stomachaches.

Before lactose intolerance set in, BBQ-flavored potato chips dipped in cottage cheese. Also Doritos dipped in cottage cheese. Absolute fire.

- Are you from Texas? There was a restaurant chain there back in the day that served a pie very similar that consisted of a crisp whipped cream meringue(?) mixed with crumbled saltines. It was absolutely divine, I found the recipe a few years ago but I failed to make the pie of my rememories.

Weird Al came up with the Twinkie Weiner Dog, which is a hot dog with a Twinkie as the bun topped with spray cheese. It's surprisingly good.

Applesauce and sausage gravy.
It shouldn't be a surprise since pork pairs so well with sweet foods, but it's as essential to biscuits and gravy as hot-sauce.

Sweet potato fries or perogies with Miracle whip.
- Okay so far these are the only really weird ones. The thought of ketchup and maple syrup gave me an involuntary shudder and I have eaten Tarantula.

Chocolate bar dipped in nacho cheese.

Little chocolate chip cookies as a cracker for hummus. The sweet biscuit texture with the cool, tangy lemon and garlic hummus is amazing. But sadly, most people are not ready for such truths.

Macaroni and tuna, but you have to use the liquid cheese kind, not the powdered abortion.
Cool ranch Doritos and sour cream, saw this mentioned before and had to try it. Worth every penny.

I am actually about to head out and get some smoked salmon and Västerbottenost, that is a very good combo.
Current dinner plans are "Stoy's Special Swedish Wrap":
You need:
Soft Swedish tunnbröd
Cold smoked salmon
Grated Västerbottenost
Lettuce
Tomato
Cuecumber
Lime
Start by placing smoked salmon on the Tunnbröd, sprinkle Västerbottenost over it, squeeze some lime over it, put two leaves of lettuce on the samlon, take two thin slices of tomato on top of the lettuce, add thin slices of cuecumber, roll it all up, enjoy!

It looks like most of the strange combos in the thread are variations on the theme of sweet + savoury. Lives up to the premise - that's weird and bad and wrong.

Peanut butter is a big one for a lot of weird combos, goes well with burgs, fruit, cereal, etc, hummus is a good substitute too
Mustard has some weird ones eggs, mayo, salty stuff like chips and pretzels
Waldorf salad is basically fruit, mayo, and nuts it was popular enough you can still find it some places
- Is Burg a hamburger? I've had peanut butter on a burger one time from...devil dawgs I think. It was really really good.

- I have a sugar free rockstar and chocolate a few mornings every week because of how weirdly good they compliment each other but I never really put thought into it being a weird combo hahaha, but you’re totally right!

Coffee after ive eaten a very spicy but still tolerable dish/hotsauce.
Tried using cayenne when making coffee but isnt quite the same. Might be the challenge flavour itself that i don't like as much

Ketchup and peanut butter

On a cracker, usually a Breton (made in Canada) I place a thin slice of aged cheddar then I top it with peanut butter a smear of mayo and a drop or two of hot sauce. I used to use Franks now I use Valentina (Mexican) Anyway it's amazing.

When I have a cough I make onion syrup by laying a sliced onion on a platter, covering it in copious amounts of sugar and then collecting the resulting liquid.
One time, after collecting the liquid, I forgot about it. A couple days later it had hardened and completely dried up. It was like candies!
- Interesting! My family did daikon radish cubes in honey as cough syrup when I was a kid.

Apparently mint and orange juice is a no go for a lot of people because of toothpaste and orange juice?

Generally any sweet and savory combo does nothing for me, but as strange as this one is, I dig it. It's not bad.

I've been told that it's strange, although it seems like an obvious combo to me:
Pan fried potatoes, mushroom, and onion. Served with tomato sauce to dip it in.
- Yea this sounds like a normal ass hash mix to me. I personally hate mushrooms (wish I didn't), but its not weird to mix those together.
- Whoever thought that was strange needs to get out more.

I don't eat animal products anymore but something I had previously was a pimento cheese and pickled watermelon rind sandwich and that was unusual.

Maybe not that strange, but I love natural peanut butter and locust honey on whole grain pancakes. I also love an ice cream float made with Sprite and chocolate ice cream.

Chocolate chip cookies dipped in fruit punch or pink lemonade instead of milk.
The tang with the sweet crunch is delicious
