  • It never occurred to me that the shells would be edible. I mean, I don't eat clam or oyster shells.

  • Just due to texture alone, shrimp and other crustacean shells are a hard pass for me.

  • They can be used for flavoring but I would not eat the shells.

  • I'm always worried about cutting my tongue on the shells, though that worry mainly surfaces when eating sushi. They can be sharp, and the tongue does not seem like a fun place for a paper cut.

  • I have been encouraged/peer pressured to eat shrimp with the tails on. I declined and ripped them off.

  • I don't, because it would require a trip to the hospital. Ain't allergies fun?

But they're not exactly easy to digest anyway, and how they're cooked matters to the people I know that do eat them

  • I, too, many years ago got tired of the process of removing shells and now just crush 'em shell on. It's been about a decade and no issues thus far.
