I think there’s a second patty under the cheese

Lettuce is a topping. It goes on top.
Blasphemy. Lettuce is the bed to keep the bottom bun from getting soggy.
Put a fat like mayonnaise or butter on the bottom bun to protect it from moisture. Lettuce doesn’t belong on burgers; it will either wilt from the heat or cool the burger.
