And judging by how much the world values America, it was sold for pretty cheap.

  To be fair, that did require a $42 billion initial investment a couple years prior to enable.
  
  Just to put that into perspective: the Alaska purchase in 1867 was 2.7 Million dollars, roughly 153.5 Million dollars in today's money.
