This community needs an icon... How's this?

Admittedly, I'm not much of a graphics dude, but I think this is pretty charming :3

  yeh absolutely! :3 I guess we should make a pinned post telling people we're looking for a new icon and that this is one of the options and ask if anyone has any other suggestions

  Do we want refined? The best memes are always terrible visual quality. I think a graphic that someone just kind of slapped together is perfect.

I've seen 196 pop up a lot but i'm not in the loop, whats the community about?

- Originally from Reddit as r/196, 196 is a community where the "rule" is to post something before you leave.
  Here on Lemmy, it's mostly become a place to share memes, and because this is on the instance lemmy.blahaj.zone, it's cultivated a largely LGBT-positive identity with a focus on the trans community.
  You'll find that most posts are titled with "rule" in the name. It's not really necessary, but it's become a staple of what makes a 196 post a 196 post.

Cool idea. I would suggest centering the rings inside the frame and maybe vectorizing the blåhaj to make it look better as an icon.
- Those are some awesome ideas, unfortunately I've not got the knowhow to vectorize stuff. Maybe somebody with more skill could take this idea and execute it with better design, I think Blåjh with trans rings would really set us apart well from the other 196s

I think this works better as an instance icon. There's nothing in this that suggests "196" in any way, unless there's some kind of reference I'm missing.
- That's a totally valid critique. I'm honestly not sure what makes a 196 icon a 196 icon- the other communities just used Saturn. I figured expressing the lemmy.blahaj.zone part in the logo would distinguish this one as the "real" 196.
  
  That's a pretty good point, actually - we definitely need an easy way to differentiate the subs visually.

I'm afraid it doesn't scale that good. If small you can't recognize it anymore but that's true so many icons so I don't really care that much
