The urinal in this restaurant I went to had crazy pipes and lights

I don't know why, but this big complex pipe structure was situated above the urinal. When you flush, the red light goes off and the green light goes on, and all the pressure dials start going crazy.
ArtificialLink @lemmy.ml I don't know why
My dude have you ever heard of "just for fun?"
19 1 ReplyOfflein @lemmy.world OP Well somebody installed it, of course, but the place is currently the storefront of a noodle shop that used to be a food cart. My guess is it wasn't them, but it feels like the ratio of probable cost to value is way out of wack for any restaurant unless this somehow fit into an aesthetic somehow.

IAccidentallyCame @lemmy.dbzer0.com That's an awesome Rube Goldberg machine of a pisser.
Hopefully whoever built that will make a version for the Chinese sperm extractor machine next.

4 0 ReplyTheLurker @lemmy.world Try to understand, that is a high voltage laser containment system. Simply turning it off would be like dropping a bomb on the city.

Does the red light mean it's out of order? Or is that some kind of red light special?

More like comment that this keeps being reposted. A photo of the same urinal is on Flickr since 2009, for example.

2 0 ReplyHikermick @lemmy.world Grey box is a flow sensor that turns lights on/off. Bell shaped thingy is a pressure reducing valve. Pressure gauges and valves are obvious. Not sure what the last thing is, maybe to prevent hammering?
1 0 Replysmegger @kbin.social I guess it's an effective way of getting people to remember to flush?
