  • I said I wasn't going to diarise here anymore - but as an update, I have had a phone interview this morn, and have an in-person 3rd interview booked for Wednesday.
    \ That's all.
\ Apologies for the interruption, please continue and mind me not. 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️

    • Diarise as much as you want, stud. After all, if everyone stopped sharing their life updates, or even just day updates, the DT would be dead

    • Please continue. I’ve actually been a bit worried because I haven’t seen you post much lately.

I hope you’re ok and things are going well.

    • It's allll coming up Milhouse StudSpud

    • I knew you when you were Studcrud so don't forget me when you're rich and famous. ☺

    • I've kinda stopped journalling, cos I'm finally finished most of my planned stuffs. Move, transition, work out how I'll deal with transition, get sober, quit shit workplace and toxic industry, get new job, start exercising again. I'm still around and replying though and still read all your poems. Not going anywhere. Can't wait till I hear about you getting some work.

    • Is it a job interview? I like hearing people getting interviews lined up. Gives me hope the job market isn't dead.

      • Yep. Looking for phone monkey work bc I hate myself. But yeah, both are for interesting companies in industries I haven't worked before, so I am curious to see how far I get with either of them.

  • Fuck I love a British crime drama! 60% actual crime solving, 10% HR nightmare, 10% rain, 10% you recognising actors, 5% places that sound like they belong in a fairy story, 5% people talking really fast. It's just brilliant stuff, it's perfect turn your brain off telly even though that's not it's intended purpose.

  • Day 29 of exercises completed. I've got one day to go before I've completed the program! Woo! I've never stuck at any exercise program for this long in my whole life before, and I have you folks to thank for your ongoing encouragement and support! Now I've got to take a look at what my next step is..

  • In the past year I have donated/given away/sold about 20 big garbage bags worth of stuff. I'm always decluttering but amazed, in a bad way, how little impact it seems to have on the home.

  • You know when you collect books because a subject interests you. Well

Image of 2 stacks of cleaning and organising books

Ironically they're a little dusty and the one I'm looking for is hiding somewhere.

    • Oh I forgot to add, 90% of my book collection are fantasy books.

      • Mine are hard sci fi, it's ruined me. Whenever social issues come up my natural response is to suggest solutions likely more applicable several centuries in the future. Climate change/major extinction event? Move humanity to orbital habitats and minimise surface visits to required scientific study or biosphere maintenance! Preserve the only known cradle of life (Earth) as the unique resource in the universe that it is. I honestly struggle to think in any other mode lol

    • Mine are definitely writing and editing books. Along with philosophy.

    • Mine is art books. If I include all the books husband discarded when we moved I would have 3 complete art encyclopedias, one set in french. Maybe another 100 books on the different schools of art, art theory, technical aspects and artists

    • Ooohhh I know what to get you for Christmas now!

    • I have a couple of cook books, never used them before :/

  • I know that I work 11-5 so it's only part time, but the time I wake up it feels like a full time 9-5 job. Gosh, I can't wait till my probation is over and ask to work from home one day. Mostly for my chronic pain but also going into work 5 days a week is tough.

  • It's always fun when I get home from work and declare "it's time to de-drag" like I'm a drag queen who just saw their friend eliminated off of Drag Race.

  • Went to make a cuppa in the work kitchen and found a tray of arnotts biscuits on the table. The kingstons had already been raided, the SOBs. Got a Monte Carlo and a Nice, though 👌

  • Spent a while this morning learning how to send myself emails within the google ecosystem with hotel reservation details so it auto-adds into my calendar properly, for when hotels don't send email confirmations with the correct markups or in my case, when I wasn't the one who did the booking. Was a fair bit more involved than I initially thought but eventually nailed it. If anybody needs or wants to know how it's done let me know and I'll write it up. Can do it for a bunch of different booking types: flights, events, car hire, restaurants, etc.

It's all hidden data that gmail can grab: ::: spoiler image is an example of a hotel booking

    :::

    • That's incredible, a lot different than the old "ring up a hotel, get a verbal confirmation, they send a paper booking in the mail, you put it in a deadtree diary/schedule. "

It must have been different again when there was only postal service. Before that messengers or just turn up at the inn!!

  • Extremely intense and draining day. I've stopped by at mine to wait for western suburbs traffic to die down before making the trek back out to the house because I refuse to join in that mess (also I get to water my plants!). I'd be happy not to touch my steering wheel for the next 4 days. Absolutely sore and knackered from all the trudging around today as well.

Finished Mad Men s6 last night. Possibly the weakest season just above s5, but those last two episodes were absolute corkers and had that classic impact from s2-s4

    • Hope you manage to get some rest.

How is your neck and shoulder doing? Has it gotten any better since you were having bad pains with it?

      • Just got back to the place I'm housesitting. All showered and clean, cat fed, rice cooking, I'll be out like a light by 10. The neck and shoulder are definitely better than before but there's a residual ache/tension that comes up when I'm stressed out or in one position for too long. I am not postponing that therapeutic massage this week...

  • I think the monster 👾 found where I work. Things got hectic here for a bit, and I'm pretty sure it was involved. I would very much like dull monotony back please.

  • Ugh I just want to hibernate from everything right now until it becomes warmer. Have zero motivation for anything unless its over 21 degrees outside.

  • I've been looking at my meter readings and surprisingly I seem to have managed to use less power for the last couple of months than the same time last year. It has been so cold I expected it to be more. The heating definitely chews through the power though, there are major spikes on cold days. Hopefully if I can get reverse cycle systems put in I'll be able to save some money, and actually be warm.

  • A very up and down day. Mostly down. Terrible sleep made for a moody office day. An afternoon pick up in energy came, then got a job application rejection email to end the work day after a good interview on Friday. My experience didn’t align apparently. Fair enough but still stings. Never going to leave my current job at this rate. Finished with a good gym session to process all of today’s emotions. Ready for a deep sleep.

    • I'm hoping for deep sleep myself as well so fingers crossed for us! Hope it's a better day tomorrow for you.

  • Ok, 8hrs of Scott & Bailey last night probably wasn't a good idea, my dreams today were mostly just made up episodes Lmao

  • YouTube had static posts now...? When did that happen... I keep waiting for the video to autoplay then realise it's just a screen cap or something.

  • About to try a method of scrambling eggs in the shell before boiling them. Wish me luck!

    • what what what is there a recipe to follow? instructions? ma'am! pls. tell me your secret egg ways 🥺 🥚

      • I tried to follow a YouTube video but I did not spin it a dozen times. Haha. So no scrambled boiled eggs. I might try one more egg this afternoon. I used a stocking sock.

  • Lmao there's two huge bugs ripping right through my section right now, people either have a cold or having it coming out both ends. Who'd have thunk bringing people in full time suddenly would create a cesspit of germs.
