FETID!
It's fine honey, I got this covered.
Hello officer, I got some Elder with me. Never leave home without them!
Nice I really like it.
You're dropping recomendations for the majority of the comments here, mad respect!
Have some Stonefield as a treat.
I saw them live at a TOOL concert. They were great!
If you like Tool, check out Wheel
Nightwish - Dark Chest of Wonders
Blind Guardian - Imaginations From the Other Side
Whitesnake - Crying in the Rain
Armored Saint - Upon My Departure
The Black Mages - Hunter's Chance
Twisted Sister - Under the Blade
Ugly Kid Joe - Jesus Rode a Harley
Alice Cooper - Feed My Frankenstein
...yes, I'm old.
Blind Guardian and Opeth are sick!
The first time I listened to those songs, they were transformative experiences. So freakin good.

I offer Witchcraft by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
I request power metal recommendations, please.
Powerwolf, Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Beast in Black, Manowar
I request power metal recommendations, please.
Blind Guardian (earlier stuff was primarily speed metal)
Unleash the Archers
Unlucky Morpheus
I hesitate to recommend Iced Earth since the bandleader is a raging POS but they fit the bill
Nightwish is more symphonic than power but they're top notch and might scratch that itch
I went to Kamelot's show last weekend, if you don't know them definitely check them out. Opening act was Ad Infinitum, I didn't know them but I was blown away! Melissa Bonny is an amazing singer.

Not a huge metal person, but coming from a rock background, I've really been into Bad Omens lately. They have a kinda alternative sound to them imo.
Archspire - death metal + speed rap
The Browning - electronicore
Avatar of Hate, Fleshgod Apocalypse - symphonic death metal
Angel Maker - melodic deathcore
Bleed from Within - melodic metalcore
Beast in Black - power metal
Mors Principium Est - melodic death metal

I've been on a Spiritbox kick for a while. Chelsea Wolfe scratches an itch I didn't know was there, folk metal, like coffeehouse with the espresso machine grinding out the melody.
I have not heard spiritbox, but I have heard that they are similar to Reliqa, who I absolutely love
I haven't heard Reliqa and just took a quick listen. No screams, right? Spiritbox has screams, a couple songs are entirely screams. I get this was a question about metal but of course there's all different opinions about frequency and style of screams. The screams are 50/50 for me but the cleans are excellent, bringing me back to Evanescence. I'll give Reliqa a full listen though.
I'm going to show my age with this list, and metal is such a large genre I don't always know what counts. Hopefully there's new ones for some folks that you'll enjoy as much as I do.

Here's few of my favorites
One of my favorites from Kiuas as it also contains part where they sing in Finnish :P More popular songs are "Warrior Soul" and "Kiuassault".
Turmion Kätilöt - Vastanaineet
2 Times Terror - Ikävässä Paikassa (side project of Turmion Kätilöt)
Children Of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?, also Oops I Did It Again! is epic 😁
Bring Me The Horizon ft. Babymetal - Kingslayer
Star-Lord band - Zero to Hero (from Guardians of the Galaxy game)
Noora Louhimo is a goddess. What a voice! (The singer of Battle Beast).
I've seen her live and I tell you, she somehow sounds even better?!
Battle Beast is currently my favorite live band what I've seen. Show has always been epic and full of energy, I just love it.

Some sick Pacific Northwest metal/hardcore to checkout:
There’s SO MUCH good modern hardcore music here right now that I’m barely scratching the surface, but hopefully at least one of these does something for you!
As an atheist living in an incredibly conservative Christian area, it's fun wearing band shirts for acts like you've listed. Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, Mayhem...
Gojira was one of my favorite concerts
Alcest. Run, don't walk, to check them out.
Check out Unreqvited; Blackbraid; and Brutus
Merchant of the Void by 3Teeth with Mick Gordon (maker of the Doom 2016 and Eternal soundtrack(

Death Metal Æther Realm, Heaven Shall Burn
Wytch hazel is kind of like red in that regard. They arent exactly Christian but their music would fit a church
Sleep Token
These guys have an incredible range and mix up different styles in a way that is quite unique. I'm not normally someone who pays that much attention to drums but their drummer really is amazing. The singer can do both clean and 'dirty' vocals.
First time in ages I've been excited about a new band!
I will never stop worshipping Primus and whatever whacky thing they do.
Primus sucks!
No no, we don't say that anymore.
Now we say "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts"
Incidental recommendation for Morphine - far from a metal band, but a 3 piece bass/sax/drums unit that inspired Primus.
"Kardashev is a progressive death metal band hailing from Tempe, AZ, whose lyrics focus on the advancement of the human race through themes of technology, selflessness, love, and altruism. Given their positive take on death metal, their style has been jokingly referred to as “life metal,” and they also embrace the genre tag “deathgaze” (death metal + shoegaze) which perfectly describes their ambient death metal approach. Try out some Botanist.
Two instrument black metal. Drums, and hammer dulcimer. Sometimes has Bass guitar. Very atmospheric. Interesting vibes.
here is their upcoming album which has some good singles
Hamferð is also pretty slick.
Their new album Men guðs hond er sterk is an absolute banger. Absolutely crushing death-doom. Their previous album, Tàmsins likam was probably my favorite album of the year.
I'm listening to Botanist.
Fucking weird, but fucking good.
Hamfero is pretty solid.
In exchange I offer Devil
And Warmoon Lord
I’m a huge panopticon fan. I got one of their CDs from a local radical book shop the other day.
I’ve not heard of the other three, I’ll check em out!
Edit: I’ve listened to a song by all three, and I really dig Cauldron and Warmoon Lord. I can definitely see cauldron go in my catalogue for when I need to mix things up, they’re outside my normal go-to genres.
To throw two more back at you, check out Dawn Ray’d, an excellent melodic black metal/RABM band with some great lyrics, themes, and some solid songwriting. The band’s politics are similar to Panopticon, or Woe.
Others by No One, a prog metal concept album I can’t exactly describe. To me, it feels like the only band that has carried Native Construct’s torch, which is one of the best compliments I can give. It’s an enthralling listen.
Dark Tranquility
Katatonia
Draconian
Omnium Gatherum
Insomnium
I like Dir En Grey, its just a bunch of japanese dads doing heavy metal
Don’t have links atm but
Alpha Wolf (Just released a record today)
Erra (just released an record today)
Cliffside
Knocked Loose
Orbit Culture
Darko US
Aviana
Varials
Invent Animate
Bury Tomorrow
Chamber
I want to like Darko US cuz their stuff has a really cool sound, but I just can't get through even one song by them most of the time. It's just so incredibly aggressive and heavily engineered that it's difficult to listen to imo
Bloodywood has a hold in my heart. Truly fun metal. Bloodywood - Gadaar
Arka'n Asrafokor is the band I'd push the hardest. Effing talented Arka'n - Walk with us

Mandroid Echostar - Catchy prog metal with clean vocals
Anaal Nathrakh - Grind/black metal with industrial influences
The Arcane Order - Long-form melodic death metal
Arcania - Kinda like a thrashier Gojira
Rivers of Nihil - Proggy death metal
Unfathomable Ruination - Brutal tech death
Thantifaxath - Dissonant black metal
We Lost the Sea - Post-metal. I need to give some context for this one:
Departure Songs is inspired by failed, yet epic and honourable journeys or events throughout history where people have done extraordinary things for the greater good of those around them, and the progress of the human race itself. This is a celebration and a tribute. Each song has it’s own story and is a soundtrack to that story.
This is our 3rd album and our first instrumental album. We’re exploring new ground and exploring ourselves in the past 2 and a bit years since Chris went on his own journey. It’s slightly bleak with shimmers of hope and layers of emotion. It’s a tribute and a catharsis of emotion and honesty.
I.e., their vocalist died and this was their way of grieving. Incredibly deep cut IMO.
Alpinist - "heavylowfastslowdark hardcore"
Echostar reminds me of Witchcraft in that his vocals are so clean that it almost doesn't jive with the genre.
I don't dislike it by any means. Just have to work a little to get into it. Echostar is unbelievably technical. Their syncopation and noise control are otherworldly
Some of recommendations I did not already see, that are not-that-well-known; all of these are various flavors of melodic death metal:
Parasite Inc. - Once and for All
The Agonist - Panophobia (unfortunately, the band is now defunct)

my recommendations:
friends recommendations (maybe slightly more digestible than some stuff on my list):
I think this is considered prog metal, not sure. But the band Animals as Companions. I think they are fucking awesome. Combat Cartography (iirc) is a awesome track check out.
I'm not into rock/metal enough to know all the genres that well, but alot of the heavier stuff has singers that just ruin it for me. Animals deals with that in Mt favorite way, no singer.
I love Jesters Dance by In Flames, but that seems to be one of the few they have without singing.
If you're into the vibe but not the singers, you might like And So I Watch You From Afar, Earth, Pomegranate Tiger, Plini, Polyphia, The Algorithm, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, If These Trees Could Talk, Pelican, and Polarization. All instrumental metal/rock at different levels of heavy.
That's kind of a long list but I hope you find something in it 😅
Well plini I have liked for some time. He recently dropped a track with the guy from Animals as Leaders, Tosin Abasi. It's pretty good. Thanks for that list tho I enjoy having new shit to lookup on spotify.
And to anyone reading this who read my first comment,it's Animals as LEADERS and the song I mentioned is Conflict Cartography.
You might be thinking of Animals as Leaders, I can't find anything about Animals as Companions. And you're right, they're definitely prog metal. Super intricate riffing and bizarro time signatures. It's a good time! I'm not familiar enough with them to know what song you're talking about, but they're a very unique group.
Lol yes leaders. Irl animals are usually companions and I just mess that up in my head.

I recently discovered Fit for a King and I really like them! Actually got to see them live earlier this year :3c
It’s prog but Angra with Kiko as lead guitarist is still the greatest of all time for me. Kiko left the band for Megadeth a little while back, their new guitarist is solid but just not on the same level. Rebirth, Fireworks and Temple of Shadows are probably my top 3 favorite albums.
Mechina - Siege. Take a metal band with industrial influences. Release an album. Take that album. Add tons of atmospherics and electronica. Release that version as well. Now take that, and add angelic votes, and some harsh and release that as well. You can buy whichever version you prefer. All great for the different reasons
Wayfarer – American Gothic. The jangly guitar alternate 1890s death/black metal band you didn’t know you needed.
Sermon - on golden verse. proggy anthemic melodeath with fantastic clean vocals.
I'm such a huge fan of Mechina! My favorite album is Acheron.
Siege is the high point for me - it’s where I came in, but the mix of the metal + electronica + symphonic + beauty vocals is prettyy much perfect there. I like the newer and older, and I love being able to strip away the layers.

I will also strongly second the already recommend Chelsea Wolfe, Opeth, Alcest, Orbit Culture and 3TEETH!
Been listening to Municipal Waste recently. They're good.
May I suggest Twelve Foot Ninja https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SYvzn5grrI
