I don't really trust allark either, and the truth is the XMR subreddit has been manipulated for a while by several prominent people in the community, including allark, majestic (who control elite wallet), cake, trocador and this weird war between cake and majestic has really put me off of both of them. I distrust all of these organizations as a result, even if I still use their services sometimes. But, it's looking like they didn't rug.
Specific to allark, they always get a lot of positive engagement when they post but whenever someone organically asks about them its one bad experience after another reported. This is plain as day sentiment manipulation. I'd never use allark, I'd use cake pay instead. Or coincards. Cake manipulates sentiment, but at least most people who use their services are genuinely satisfied. I'm a little disappointed that their web service is not working and I hope it comes back up soon because I don't want to use their wallet applications.
Cake people are fairly tight but something about them just rubs me the wrong way, not sure why.. Also, didn't Majestic rugpull? Or did that get resolved.
I've heard some people saying they think cake is a fed honeypot. Majestic didn't rug pull, but they did have some weird shit where all their websites went down and came back up with new URLs, probably some internal takeover or something, and they maintain Elite wallet which is just a fork of cake, not sure what they bring to the table. Also they've been exposed vote manipulating on reddit.
I don't use either as a wallet, or swap services from majestic, but I do use cakepay over allark for cards as a monero to fiat compatibility later. Truth is everyone except localmonero/agoradesk seems to have some type of sketch going on and so I'm wary.
